Yet he is completely wrong. I have a couple of big lesions popping out usually at the same place on the buttocks, and many small ones showing wherever on my thighs, even though the virus entered

Just thought I would update: 2nd WB (paired sera) also came back indeterminate. Given the length of time from possible exposure, 3 months between WBs, lack of any OBs U of W says I can assume I a

I fit into the category of unknown because I was misdiagnosed. Wish I could help. Good poll! Following

Yea I came in here prior to posting. Since I haven't had a confirmed positive just yet I'm going to wait until the 16 week mark to get re-tested, but I'll come back and add my $0.02 here when I've got the update.

What week are you at so far? And have you tested so far for any hsv 1 or 2?

Quick update on this convo for all who have had similar symptoms and testing experiences.

I’ve had follow up appointments with my family doc. regarding a positive PCR swab, ongoing paresthesia in groin/backside, and suppressive therapy following the swab (abrasion/small slit).

I requested an IGG test for the heck of it to see if my body has mounted an immune response 6 months after the one time exposure.

Negative IGG. Hsv1 and hsv2 both below 0.1, which shows no change since the baseline test I took one week after exposure.

These test are so unreliable then. I'm at my 7th month post exposure and still testing negative for both hsv. Mine are 0.05 and the other 0.06. Taken separately not combined.

I took a pcr swab in and around my urethra which came back negative , but maybe I wasn't shedding. I have nothing to swab, I'm concerned and doctors and dermotologist still insist that one is fine and should continue having sex. Ive read how many doctors still tell their patients to continue having sex.

Guys and girls, who are still testing, how are you doing? Any changes? Updates? Positives? Negatives? Symptoms? New test results, if any?

Still testing negative at 30 weeks. I'm about to start a new job so I'll have better funds so I can take better tests and see better doctors.

Check out my post about DeRisi Lab in California. You should give them a try by asking your doctor to order their assay test for you. They sequence a person’s DNA through a sample and then find what pathogens are found that aren’t a part of you. It might help give you your answer.

another thing is i never had any sores in my mouth or any other symptoms other than blisters under my nostril and tiredness, would spreading it to my mouth area make this so much worse than it already was?

So throughout this whole process you haven't had anything that can be swabbed ?

I'm 30 weeks from possible exposure and still testing negative for both and I'm still experiencing hsv symptoms.

ive had 3 swabs on questionable lesions that came back negative. one i think was an ingrown hair and the other 2 were a couple days after they appeared since the planned parenthood in my area isnt open everyday so maybe there was not enough to swab... i got a fourth swab from a dermotologist this morning on a lesion in my pubic area that he thought was an infected hair follicle.. wont know the results for two weeks. the amount of money ive spent over the last two years on testing is maddening but my symptoms also persist and i know it isnt in my head. lately ive had a sunburn feeling in my shoulders and right calf as well.

exposure was protected vaginal intercourse and unprotected oral. Had full symptoms come on within 36 hours. Shooting pains and extreme sensitivity of glans, burning groin and inner thighs, rash began on both groin folds, bad flu symptoms. Went to doctor at 72 hours who gave me 5 day famciclovir prescription. Rash went away over next few days but have had on and off tingling burning symptoms ever since. Don't know if any lesions would start because I began medication early.

Tested Igg at 7.5 weeks negative for both hsv 1 (0.09) and hsv2 (<0.5)

Waiting to test again at 12 to 16 weeks

Negative IgG 6 months after exposure. PCR swab positive at 5 months. This was the third swab after two negatives.

Followed up with TW. She questioned the positive swab (based on meg. WB at 18 weeks). My family doc and I do not.

Blisters under your nose could be hsv1.

If you have no symptoms why are you worrying about genital hsv1?

Even if you had it.  If you have no symptoms you are extremely unlikely to pass it on.

Igg at 8 weeks is about 70% would have Ab by then.  So those are good odds.  Especially since your exposure was mostly from hsv1.

I had red spots in my foreskin which started to appear mostly after masturbation and they were totally painless and they dissappeared next day every time,it started in march last year and  doctor said it was just normal fungal infection and i applied anti fungal creams and it was okay but again after sometime i was getting these spots and they disappeared next day like before but totally painless and then it stopped and and after 5-6 months i noticed that dots in foreskin after masturbation and i think it was result of masturbating by retracting foreskin again and again because my foreskin is not that much loose and maybe the skin get irritated and get those red spots so i got an hsv test which says hsv 1-2igg=<0.500 hsv 1-2 igm=<0.500 is it negative or equivocal? I know its negative below 0.90 and equivocal between 0.90-1.10 but what does 0.500 means does anyone knows about this?

Hello everyone. A sex worker performed oral sex on me on December 17, 2020, after 2 days I go with a doctor friend I tell him that I made a mistake that I am afraid of an STD (I am married) he gives me cetriaxone, he gives me azithromycin and 7 days of tetracycline . I go home and have sex with my wife on December 24 and 26, on December 27 I have a discomfort when urinating, in January another doctor formulates gentamicin and it is removed, but I am left with a strange sensation in my urethra, he tells me that probably kidney stones. On February 17, a bright red ulcer appears on my glans, when I see it, I panic and go to the hospital, they test me for all HIV (I already have 5 tests to date), syphilis (vdrl fat-abs), chlamydia and gonorrhea all The doctor checks the lesion and tells me that it is not herpes, it does not look like herpes because there were no blisters or blisters. Anyway, I started taking acyclovir and 8 days after having the wound (it already had a white scab on top, it healed after 2 days) I did the herpes test (I had about 3 days taking acyclovir) I clarify since I was little I have had h1 on my lips, the results were the following IgG for h1 positive (obviously) IgG for h2 negative IgM for h1 negative IgM for h2 negative I don't know what to do I don't trust the tests these tests were taken 10 weeks after contact apart from that I used a cream that had a strong ration on my penis and burned it by 80% and to this date it is recovered

Hey guys. I was just diagnosed with genital herpes after a visual examination. I've had all the possible symptoms - fever, chills, aches, sore throat, bumps on vaginal area and discomfort when peeing. I'm waiting to find out what strain I have and I have so many questions/am just feeling so terrible so would appreciate any help.
1: Does it really matter which strain you have? Should you still disclose this diagnosis to potential future partners?
2: Has anyone noticed small bumps on their fingers from the infection? Are these contagious? I have small bumps on one finger that haven't broken but are uncomfortable when touched.
3: Is it possible to have infection in both the mouth and genital area at one time? Most of the stuff I've read has said if you have bumps on the vagina then it's genital herpes but my throat is so sore and seems to have bumps way at the back - no sores yet.
4: Linked to Q.3, if I have genital herpes can I spread infection by kissing alone?

      hello,
i was here in june with what I thought was maybe an oral ob.  At that point it had been post exposure by 4 months and i ended up testing neg 1&2 igg.  i just tested again and was neg for both, no new contact.
Monday night my nose all of a sudden became EXTREMELY itchy in just one nostril.  the next morning and day all of these white bumps popped up all over it.  I put abreva all in my nose.  this morning i woke up and it was irritated but all the white bumps were gone.  I calmed down but then i just looked and it looks like there's little erosions inside my nose now.  The dr refuses to swab.  Does this look like herpes?  I'm attaching pics of my nose with the blisters and with the erosions, I circled the erosions.  Also including a pic of my lip from june for reference.

Sorry for the image quality of my nose, one is scarily detailed and the one of the bumps is very blurry.  hard to get a good nostril shot as it turns out
maybe i have a false neg hsv1 test result?
Feeling so defeated it is frustrating to not know what is going on and i feel humiliated by the drs who think i am being crazy for suggesting herpes.

      Hello,
I was diagnosed with hsv1&2 earlier this year. I was prescribed 1g of valtrex (valacyclovir) a day for suppressive therapy.  Valtrex helps greatly with my symtoms, but I recently had to leave my job for health reasons and will no longer have health insurance to get prescribed valtrex.
Does anyone know where I can purchase valtrex (valacyclovir) online without a prescription?

@CHT I am not sure what country you are in but I am in the U.K. and they don’t do blood tests for HSV at the standard sexual health clinics maybe at private ones where you have pay they do.   What would checking my anti bodies confirm ? And she didn’t swab the area as she said there was nothing to swab and no lesions but I am sure there was. She seemed quite inexperienced.  I have had an lesion swabbed years  ago  to confirm HSV2 but no swabs  since.  I would like  to know if they are HSV or my excema as I never know which is which so I just don’t have sex when I get these feelings as I don’t know if I’m having a Outbreak.  I will have a look at the link thanks. I wouldn’t want to go on the implant again as I don’t want 3 years of birth  control in my arm. I may consider the mini pill which is the same hormone as the implant as I can easily stop this it I have a bad reaction. I have an appointment with a specialist at the sexual health clinic next week

Hey @PlainJane what a thoroughly nasty piece of work! Im afraid it is the waiting game for you, having said that, there seems very little reason for you to suspect herpes.
    • PlainJane
@WilsoInAus Thank you so much for the reply! You did before I even asked lol. I really didn’t want to talk to her about it. The last time we had spoken she was really mean and nasty to me. Threatening to beat me up because she was drunk. I don’t want her going around telling people I asked her if she has herpes because I have it. Which she absolutely will. Or she does and then I will be her scape goat for her to tell people I’m the one who gave it to her. I guess it’ll be a waiting game to get blood work to confirm or deny the presence of HSV2 antibodies.
    • WilsoInAus
Hello @PlainJane I think I recall your partner's post and would suggest that what he had as revealed in the photos was almost certainly not herpes - and reaffirmed above! The first thing to note is that you cannot be infected with HSV-1 and then test at a level 43.5 a total of 9 days after the incident. That's not how your body works. It would takes several weeks and possibly months to reach that level. Undoubtedly the HSV-1 infection is old and highly likely an oral infection from your childhood. The next thing to note is that toys or any object are not a great way of transferring herpes. Typically the rubbing of the skin area that is shedding the virus against the recipient's skin is needed. Transfer any other way is somewhere between infeasible to impossible. Your pictures do not look like herpes to me in favour of folliculitis - your partner's thigh shots are almost certainly folliculitis. Also note that this female friend must have HSV-2 for this to even warrant the vaguest notion of herpes being a cause. Can you ask her? If she does have HSV-2, then you will need a 12-16 week IgG test in order to have a conclusive answer (with a strong expectation of negative).
    • PlainJane
@WilsoInAus Could you review this? You replied previously on my boyfriends post of his butt rash. I guess all I can really do is find a facility who will swab when I have a suspecting bump, since my doctor won’t for some reason and then redo the blood test for HSV2 since it’s now been 4 weeks since possible exposure.
