Bowel movements after HSV2

Hey peeps with HSV-2, have noticed since getting it that your bowel movements have changed?

I had regular movements every day with 1 or 2 pieces but since this infection I now have constipation and only little niblets that come out.

I also notice that I seem to have difficultly holding in gas, it just passes and there’s nothing I can do about it. Never had that issue before this.

These are small issues compared to the rest of course. My entire body has changed from this.

I have never had a suicidal thought in my life but this has put me over the edge and thinking about it every day.

Dear Lord, will you please stop! Does everything that happens to you after you get hsv, attributable to hsv? If you have suicidal thoughts, you need to seek a counselor.

The bowel movement changes are definitely due to my infection. I have been regular my entire life until after this infection, suddenly I always constipated and have pains internally.

Looks like others have the same so:

I have a whole slew of other things I just don’t mention. Constipation is the least of it.

Having never had any health issues to now have the virus I’ve always dreaded the most (after AiDS) is too much. I have been seeing a counselor but nothing will help my mindset.

Says who? What's the medical basis for saying that your constipation problems are due to hsv? Has a doctor confirmed that your constipation issues are directly from hsv2?

I’m in my 40’s and never had constipation in my life. Now I’m suddenly always constipated but I’m sure it’s a coincidence /s.

I am not here to debate with you bud. If you aren’t affected that way, great for you.

just googling “constipation hsv 2” shows quite a few hits so.

Just to chime in a little here lol your digestive issues are probably stress related due to your having hsv 2. Vitamin d is great for that

Thanks for the advice but in my case I can definitely feel i this not, that’s why I mentioned about my passing gas involuntarily. I just comes like I have no control over it and certainly never had that before.

Those are all digestive issues lol especially the uncontrollable gas try to drink more water for that. Your body will go back to normal don’t worry the stress has taken over right now but you will be okay

The issue is not whether it's possible, it's whether it's true in your case. Bowel movement issues can be caused by hsv if the virus gets into the nerves of the intestines. Until that's verified in your case, your constipation could be a coincidence or indirectly related to hsv.

Did you pay the consultation fees.there are a lot of doctors here in this forum. Some of them very professional and fully aware of the science background they are mostly finding us the cure very soon. If anyone who has little brain won’t argue on what HSV could cause since it’s affecting everybody deferently they say 80% don’t show symptoms what about the other 20% again 80% of the 20% have mild symptoms and the unlucky ones facing a lot of issues with daily symptoms.anyways some doctors in here know more than me. Try could ask you also about your test result / if you have done type specific test and a lot of other stupid question. Many thanks ( this is a free comment ) we may start charging like the other doctors

Magnesium or vitaminC to bowel tollerance then back off 500mg. That's what I use.

I am sorry you are going through this! What did you go over with your therapist? Maybe I can learn something.

Get one thing at a time under control! (((Tight hugs)))

Coming back to report that after vaccinations in May and July, today I have one vesicle. Called the doctor and will report back later. Slightly pessimistic at this point.

I think I need to treat this as an ocd thought (that I've got herpes) and not check myself compulsively, not seek constant reassurance from doctors and the internet, just try and forget about it. Re disclosure, I would tell future partners that i could have hsv but I don't know, all the visual examinations and tests I've had have come back negative but there's still a possibility that i have herpes. Then they can decide whether to take the risk. I always assume someone is positive for everything unless there are tests to prove otherwise. I don't do casual relationships so always get a full sexual health screening with my new partner so we can both be safe. But they could have herpes and not know as it's not routinely checked for. It's a risk for all parties involved. I spoke to herpes.org.uk helpline and Marion told me that blood tests are routinely bringing up false positives/negatives and that having the virus doesn't predict when and where you're going to have an ob. I therefore wouldn't trust the result of the test and would be repeatedly getting tested, as I did when my hiv ocd was really bad. That was a hugely stressful and anxious time and I don't want to go through that again!! Especially for a virus that can't kill you!! So I think I'm going to have to live with the uncertainty of having herpes obs and avoid sexual contact whenever I feel sore down below if/when I'm in a relationship.  Being on this forum is just exacerbating my Ocd, so I think that I should stop posting as it's reassurance-seeking. Wishing you all the best and thank you all for your help, advice and support. Remember - it's just a virus that billions of people have and doesn't make us dirty or unworthy of love or a good life. Stay safe and well xx

And I’ll help you up until the second coming. I think this is an unhealthy dose of imaginitis as far as herpes is concerned. Wouldn’t you agree?
    • WilsoInAus
Yes man that’s correct. I mean we don’t really want more people in the delusional room with mirrors that see nothing, do we?
    • WilsoInAus
There’s nothing visually or in what you describe that is suggestive of herpes. See your doctor if you have concerns, there’s plenty of things on the list of possibilities here.
