Combined Test

Recommended Posts

Sharknado

So the lab messed up and ran an hsv 1/2 combined test instead of a type specific test. I'm so incensed. This is a new lab that I'm trying out because my old lab didn't give index figures.

Now that I have finally seen an index figure it's combined and not separated. The score was 25.0 on a postive scale of <0.9.

Now, that seems quite high to me even though I've had hsv1 for close to 10 years. How does a combined test work? Does this mean that if a type specific test is done on the same blood sample the antibodies of both would total up to the 25 figure? Or there's a different measuring scale all together for the type specific.

Sorry mate, wrong test. Why in heavens is there such a thing as a combined test?!

There is no conclusion to draw but you carry at least one type. The number means nothing more.
