So I was just diagnosed Monday the 26th. My world flipped upside down. I've barely stopped crying and I'm still semi in denial. I had a posiive swap, negative igg (hsv2). So I get it I'm positive. I have tested blood work in the past also negative. I never had symptoms until full blown ob  started 2 weeks ago. About a month or so ago I had unprotected sex with a fairly new bf (not our first rodeo) TMI I was a bit dry and was very irritated down there and I thought nothing of it. Could that of been my first ob? Fast forward to what lead me to my Dx. Again dry sex, lead me to believe I  had tears on my perinium. After a week I went my obgyn. When she said those dreaded words. When I finally got my results she explained that the labs show that this is a new infection? I've been researching and have read it takes 12-16 weeks to build iggs. Anywho, I have absolutely no idea how to bring this up to the bf. We've been dating 3 months or so. I don' want to make it sound like I'm accusing him, but if I gave it to him I would absolutely not be able to live with myself. After researching symptoms the last 6 days he has been experiencing the flu like symptom stage. I will not live with myself if I gave it to him I refuse to. And I don' want to lose him. I am terrified to talk to him face to face!! HELP ME! PLEASE!

He gave it to you. This is a new infection that’s why you didn’t have a positive blood test (yet). Your swab was positive because it tested for the virus in your sores, it didn’t test for the antibodies in your blood. He may or may not have known he has herpes but he does have heroes and he infected you.

Have you too discussed STD status before hooking up? This doesn’t always guarantee you will get honest answers (I know from experience :() but it least you’d know whether he claimed to have been tested and disease free.
