Confused

really confused. i had an incident last sunday where i gave a male oral sex. Didn't think of anything. went on a date the next day and this guy kissed me. Since then I've been paranoid. I had these little red bumps on my tongue. they were painless. also discovered my lips became very chapped and there was peeling leaving little red cuts which usually happens when you have chapped lips and your lips cracked but i was still a bit worried. over next few days i developed a mild headache, i had a mild fever, temperature was between 97-100 degrees. the clinic told me to come back if my temp went to a 101.1 which it didn't but they weren't going to test me because cracked lips aren't lesions. decided to go to planned parenthood and they won't test me because apparently I'm not "sexually active" (not had sexual intercourse) and a vrigin but I've had oral sex. i go to an urgent care and they take a blood test and I'm surprised I'm hsv2 pos. as well as bacteria vaginosis. i think i have an igg score of 2.21. been having headaches, fatigue, now backpains  (idk if it feels like something is wrong with my spine). generally been working myself sick. idk i may be asymptomatic maybe? I've just experienced mild itching in my vagina which goes away. I'm really confused maybe could there be an error in the blood test? or its likely i have had it for a while. also i had the iGG blood test 4 days after sexual contact. can anyone offer advice, anything???

Is this the only guy you’ve performed oral sex on? I’m inclined to believe you might have a false positive and you might need to retest because hsv2 to mouth transmission is very rare considering you’re a virgin and have not had actual intercourse. Please be careful giving people blow jobs you’re young you don’t want this disease. Test every partner before any kind of sexual contact even a blow job.

I agree having hsv2 with no in-service intercourse would be incredibly rare.

In context there are xouples where the male has had genital hsv2 and the girl has nothing and they actually try to transmit it orally when lesions are present and are not successful.  Hsv2 just doesn't transmit easily to the mouth for some reason.

Not that it isn't possible.  Hsv2 has been confirmed in the mouth.

Also Igg blood tests do not detect hsv that quickly (4 days).  It takes weeks to months. Only 50% of people would have Igg antibodies by 4 weeks.  So if you did have hsv2 I would conclude it's from a different exposure.

@Taintedgirl no, I've performed oral on someone before but that was months ago. but is it possible to get hsv2 in your mouth via giving a blowjob/kissing? I'm really confused about my positive result. its really taking a toll on me. apparently its possible to get it in your mouth, thats what the nurse from the clinic told me. also I haven't yet had any outbreak symptoms on my genitals, just mild itching. thanks for the advice. definitely going to be careful from now on.

so you think its highly possible that i got a false positive? what might be the cause of my headaches, neck and back pain etc.. because i think it might be herpes related. and the cut on my mouth which keeps appearing and disappearing?

In random circumstances, a low positive IgG HSV-2 result of 2 is 50/50 of being a false positive. In your circumstances of not vaginal sex, this means the chances are very high of a false positive. This is because the only pragmatic chance of infection with HSV-2 would have been during childbirth.

Headaches, neck and back pain are very rare symptoms of an oral primary infection with HSV and in these rare circumstances would almost always be accompanies by distinctive herpes lesions.

The most rational explanation to your symptoms is that you have a flu virus that is contributing to chelitis of the lips. 95% plus of the time, a flu is just a flu.

i was prescribed acyclovir which seems to be helping with my back pains slightly and has cleared the little sore on my lip. bu then again i could be asymptomatic maybe? i guess the best option might be to wait and get a retest done.

The consensus is you don’t have it. Just to be safe retest again in September and make sure you keep yourself safe during that time like I said before you engage in any type of sexual relationship get the person tested this disease is not good I’m 23 and it’s kicking my ass stay safe chestnut

@WilsoInAus i requested my partner, but they are refusing from testing and saying they dint had any symptoms. Now the only way i left is to wait untill 12 weeks window period right? I am not getting what to do in this case. Any suggestion for any other tests?

Hi "Jeremy"..... I agree, the topic of your HSV status does not need to be something you disclose too soon in a developing relationship..... get to know each other first....see how it's going and as it progresses, then the HSV issue will naturally need to be revealed.... it's my personal opinion though that before there is any sexual encounter you ought to disclose your HSV status.... I know some will disagree with me on this but, I think it is morally wrong not to disclose first.  This can be a make/break situation for most people but, again, I feel it is simply wrong not to give the other person the whole story since your decision not to disclose could put their health at risk.... that is simply not an option in my opinion.  Looking back to my "pre-HSV" life I most certainly would want my partner to disclose their HSV+ status before intimacy so that I could make my decision as to whether I want to take that risk or not....

Thanks, CHT. I appreciate the feedback. The whole trauma of going through this has led me to figure out a lot about myself and my attachment wounds, so I'm taking courses to come out of this better. This girl really was my dream woman in so many ways, it's been the hardest heartbreak to deal with ever. I'm truly in a lot of pain, but using the pain as fuel to launch that new business and work with coaches. I also opened up to my family about HSV, so my parents and sister know now, and they were very loving and accepting of it. Since opening up about it, I feel way better around this thing. After opening up, I also found out that some mutual friends in our family have discordant couples who are married with children, so HSV hasn't stopped them from living a loving life. The thing is... all of these couples I mention did not disclose until 6-8 months into the relationship. So now I'm thinking it might be better not to disclose until I know things are very serious. I'll of course stay on the medication and use protection, but maybe this is a better route than disclosing upfront and scaring women off.

Hey @Lcj987 and welcome to the website. You can be sure that isn't HSV-2, looks nothing like it. It is much more likely to be folliculitis or inflamed fordyce spots.
