Hi,

I've recently been diagnosed with herpes. At first, it was a sore, then spread to multiple sores that hurt severely when I'd pee. I haven't been eating much. It has been a week and the sores don't hurt as bad, but the pain from my lower back hurts all the way down to my toes. It is severe nerve pain and my skin feels flu like. It is constant. This is my first outbreak. Has anybody else experienced this. The pain is so excruciating I want to throw up.

Yes. My first OB caused a lot of nerve pain and it radiated down to my left foot. It hurt to put my shoe on. It made me limp. The pain subsided as the OB subsided. Since then, the nerve pain has been more localized to the boxer short area, has been less severe (for the most part), and it usually takes just a day or two to resolve. Sleep helps a lot.

How long does it last. It has been the third day for nerve pain. Also, what is it like for guys. My boyfriend had no idea he had it, but he would get a random bump with sciatica. Can it be that way for guys. Thank you for your help.

Hi,

I had severe flu symptoms.  I had bad nerve pain and it was in my back and down my legs and toes. It lasted about a week. It was pretty bad pain but it did go away.

The internal pain was the most severe for me it felt like knives inside.

It will pass but its really unpleasant

I got bad lower back pain with my first outbreak, I still experience it daily but it’s gotten a little bit better as the months go by. I think after time everything will get better I hope.

It's quite unusual to have it daily.

I ahve had thigh burning and irritation type pain on my penis for 8 plus months.  I however never had a typical outbreak but tested positive.

My thighs on the front burn most of the day.  It does get better at night however.

But there is no reason to suspect a genital infection exists here.

Which is a good point. Burning is a common symptom of various ailments that impact nerve responses. It is as common in people with and without herpes in the location the symptoms arise.

Wilson. You know I am trying to find alternate options.  I have been going to PT, I have been treating the skin from the dermatologist.  I need to go to a neurologist because nothing else is working.

I give oral and genital equal weight.  I was negative for HSV1 8 years ago via Igg.  Now I am positive just so happens it was 10 weeks after aregretful exposureand various genital and groin irritations.

I am trying to stay open and keep investigating but when you have pain in your groin all the time it's hard not to suspect something is amiss there.

Yes but it is pure speculation on your part that you have genital herpes AND that it’s causing your pain. I doubt any of your specialists believe that.

It is also questionable as to whether HSV-1 is capable of ongoing pain issues in the genital region. That deserves weight too.

In the end you do need to be open to many possibilities as some are certainly more serious than others.

Yes I am open, which is why I continue to  pay lots of money to various specialists.

Dermatologist says it's possibly herpes or other issues.  His treatments of steroid creams and antifungals didn't work.

Also tried physical therapy for nerve compression.  The sensor didn't identify any issues with pelvicmuscle issues but I did the PT anyway.  Didn't help.

Now trying to get into a neurologist.  They are booked for months out it seems.

Hi "Jeremy"..... I agree, the topic of your HSV status does not need to be something you disclose too soon in a developing relationship..... get to know each other first....see how it's going and as it progresses, then the HSV issue will naturally need to be revealed.... it's my personal opinion though that before there is any sexual encounter you ought to disclose your HSV status.... I know some will disagree with me on this but, I think it is morally wrong not to disclose first.  This can be a make/break situation for most people but, again, I feel it is simply wrong not to give the other person the whole story since your decision not to disclose could put their health at risk.... that is simply not an option in my opinion.  Looking back to my "pre-HSV" life I most certainly would want my partner to disclose their HSV+ status before intimacy so that I could make my decision as to whether I want to take that risk or not....

Thanks, CHT. I appreciate the feedback. The whole trauma of going through this has led me to figure out a lot about myself and my attachment wounds, so I'm taking courses to come out of this better. This girl really was my dream woman in so many ways, it's been the hardest heartbreak to deal with ever. I'm truly in a lot of pain, but using the pain as fuel to launch that new business and work with coaches. I also opened up to my family about HSV, so my parents and sister know now, and they were very loving and accepting of it. Since opening up about it, I feel way better around this thing. After opening up, I also found out that some mutual friends in our family have discordant couples who are married with children, so HSV hasn't stopped them from living a loving life. The thing is... all of these couples I mention did not disclose until 6-8 months into the relationship. So now I'm thinking it might be better not to disclose until I know things are very serious. I'll of course stay on the medication and use protection, but maybe this is a better route than disclosing upfront and scaring women off.

Hey @Lcj987 and welcome to the website. You can be sure that isn't HSV-2, looks nothing like it. It is much more likely to be folliculitis or inflamed fordyce spots.
