No Symptoms ever , just found out I’m HSV2 Positive

Just found out I’m HSV2 Postive this week. Major shocker for me. Never had any symptoms or any reason to believe I have it. Never had a cold sore. I’m very intune to my body so I think this would have been something I noticed. I feel like my dating life is over and don’t have a clue on how to even approach the conversation if I became interested in someone enough to tell them my business before I became sexually active with them. I’m sure I’m not the only one feeling this way.

I hear you. I'm sort of the opposite.

I had a bunch of atypical symptoms after making contact with a girl who had HSV2 and they still pop up here and there.  Have gone to a bunch of different docs and specialists and they all say that it's not HSV2 but they don't know what it is.  I've had every type of test done and come up negative but I know deep inside it probably is.  Everybody thinks Im crazy but I know what I keep seeing and feeling. I'm not a weirdo or hypochondriac but I feel like all the docs think I am.   I can forget about it for the most part of the day and feel really good when no symptoms but there's almost always something that itches somewhere or some nerve pain. It doesn't really affect my day to day life now for the most part but it's been almost a full year since I've even gone out on a date.

I'm still going to disclose to someone before we get physical (if I ever get around to that point) but yeah, it's really tough to think about how that's going to go down. Lots of stories on here and elsewhere on the internet but man, I have gone over it in my head hundreds of times and still not sure how or when to do it.  Just hoping I can get to that point and that it will come naturally.

(super helpful advice right?) ;)

Being a major shocker, I'm guessing this was a blood test? Was it IgG or IgM and what were the numerical results? Was it separate for HSV-1 and HSV-2?

Yes it was a blood test. Whole reason I got the blood test done was because my best friend got recently infected by her boyfriend and I wanted to make sure I didn’t have it myself , plus I’m around her everyday , I’ve drank after her, had some pretty drunk nights and made out with her. She was postive for HSV1 tho on her genitals . I’m not sure what IgG is or IgM , but my numerical results were 9 . Yes the they ran separate tests for HSV1 & HSV2

Check the tests, what were the results for HSV-1 and HSV-2? Whats positive, > 1.1?

I’ll have to get a copy of my test results. I go back to the doctor tomorrow.
