Need advice about Valacyclovir

Recommended Posts

I’m curious everyone’s experience with taking valacyclovir and if it helps you or is it possible it makes you worse. I take 500mg twice a day and I have been since a new breakout showed up a couple months ago. I get one blister, it lasts a couple days, and then it goes away for about a week and a half to two weeks or a bit more and then like clockwork a new one shows up. I’m starting to take more supplements like Neem, elderberry, lysine, and vitamin D and I’m starting to wonder what’s the point of taking this prescription med if it’s not even helping? Or maybe it is helping and my OBs would be a lot worse without it. Just for reference I have GHSV1. Any thoughts or experiences on this would be a HUGE help. I’m starting to lose my sanity.

I went years with no obs. As soon as I started using antivirals I started getting obs like crazy, and in crazy places I had never experienced before. I swear those pills flipped a switch, and now, even off the valtrex, my obs are worse and more frequent, they practically ruined my life. Everyone is so different, and reacts to them differently though. My sister has taken valtrex for years and swears by it, but my experience has been horrendous.

I am taking the same medication, and I have noticed that on occasion, it does come back, not as horrible as when it first began happening, but like little patches, small areas. I'd just refill my prescription, take as directed, and it'd go away. I took my last pill today, and I have been talking vitamins every day. Did not know about elderberry, I've been taking tumeric, B12, echinacea, vitamin C, lysine, cranberry and anything else that helps promote immune health as well as skin.

I have hsv2 and take 500mg daily and it definitely prevents outbreaks for me. Maybe if its a new infection it wont go away or help as quickly?

Every drug is accompanied with one or more side effects.  I learned to treat herpes naturally. A decent diet and regular exercise made me forget I ever contracted the disease. The initial outbreak stage was horrible, but normality came within a year or so.

But you were probably also exposed to HSV-1,2,3,4,5,6ab,7,8. There are also about 80 other human viruses and you would have been exposed to a dozen of those. There are tens of different bacteria that also transmit during sexual activity. There are also hundreds of possible  causes generated with your body.

The sad part is I was exposed to HSV 2 so judging by what information Im told, If I had herpes mine would almost definitely show up on an IGG test by now.  Supposedly I’d have less than an 8% chance of it not showing up on a blood test. All I can do is go off the information Im given.   My thing is this: I need to know what is causing this.  If the medical world wants to tell me that I dont have herpes, fine.  What is it that I have then? And how do I get rid of it? Otherwise, being negative for herpes means nothing to me.  Because Im still positive for something, and they cant even figure out what the hell it is! Because my body definitely changed after I was exposed to it.

That’s incorrect for recent infections where it nears 100%. Those people have a positive swab.

Herpes is not some default magic rabbit that comes out of the hat and makes sense out of the irrational.

@RainyDay2 i am about to pull out the big bht guns. Hey if i can get rid of the symptoms forever and never blow positive, ill take it. My other thought was hpv but i know i was exposed. The last clinician i saw definitely thought my lip things looked herpetic and sajd she's seen urethral herpes before too.    Igg can be forever negative in some, i have heard hsv1 has less accuracy with igg
