Excision; new AV's or possible cure?

Hi,

I really hope exicion will crack the nut like any other next person with hsv

But whenever i look at their website i get mixed signals.

Like on some parts of the website they say they want to cure viruses and somewhere else i read they want to develope medicines what gives the notion of pills like famvir etc. which makes me sad cause we don't need i think more kinds of drugs read: supressors.

Maybe someone with more knowledge of this could enlighten me about this, i don't get it. I can 't be the only one who has noticed this.

They said excision is a suppressor too

Who's they?

Like in general, it’s a “functional cure” like how the HIV medication is to make it undetectable, excision is just like that but I pray it’s a working gone for good cure Bc I can’t handle taking pills EVERYDAY that’s so much money

Where does it say they want to develop medicines what gives the notion of pills like famvir etc.?

If functional means non-transmittable to others and myself that would be great but it would be a big bummer if it's like for example a better acyclovir pill, meanwhile not 100% safe like it's now.

Like on the home page. But maybe i associate "medicines" too much with "pills."

The website says that it can go into the ganglion and suppress the viral replication cycle. I would like to ask if this vaccine is developed and will not recur after we have injected it.

The term "medicine" is probably being used loosely. The bottom line is that the approach will be via gene editing, not some daily pill. The formula that they will deliver to someone will be for the purpose of penetrating the neurons (where the virus lives), and editing the virus's genome, significantly disrupting (or completely stopping) it's ability to replicate. If you stop it from replicating, it can no longer cause disease and that's what we consider a functional cure. Excision Bio probably refers to that formula as a "medicine". It's likely the formula would be injected.

Do you think that if R&D is successful, we need to inject once a year? Still only need to be injected once

I don't think anyone knows for sure. Theoretically, crispr would remain in the cell doing it's thing. I don't know how long it would last. I simply don't know enough about the science to answer that question. Excision may not even know right now. All this is new and they are working out the details. That's what the animal studies are doing.

By the way, crispr is NOT a vaccine. Vaccines are simply a weakened/attenuated form of the virus that elicits an immune response without causing the actual disease. With the immune system now armed and ready, the person who comes in contact with the virus will be able to fight it off and not catch the disease. That's the concept.

Thank you for your answer, very professional

Hi Savannah

try intermittent fasting.

I have (had) two outbreaks a months. Taking a week to heal each which means I was 50% with symptoms.

I was diagnosed 2 years ago, I got from a new girlfriend which has no symptoms or maybe very mild once a year. She did not know.

Anyway, I never took one single pill. I hoped over time my body would learn how to deal with it.

The only think that works for me is intermittent fasting. Read about it. Basically I dont eat from 19:00 to 12:00 next day.

Like this I manage to stay outbreak free. Have to go now. You can pm me if u need more info.

I don’t have outbreaks. I’m just saying with the HIV medication it’s required for you to take the pills everyday , so if excision works like that to be undetectable I’ll honestly be fine with that, I only had one outbreak

That would be nice to not worry about transmitting to others. If this were a real life scenario (non-transmission), would we have to disclose to every potential partner that we have HSV?

No because we wouldn’t be able to transmit it at all there wouldn’t be a risk

They say health is most important, right.

I am all for that! Heck I would be happy just to have the blisters stop. But it seems that is asking a bit much as well.

As long as I can’t transmit this virus to others.. I’m more than happy with it.. I’m tired being with my anxiety.. I’m afraid if I’m not washing my hands clean enough or put my baby on my lap it could transmit the virus to him :sob:

Hi "Jeremy"..... I agree, the topic of your HSV status does not need to be something you disclose too soon in a developing relationship..... get to know each other first....see how it's going and as it progresses, then the HSV issue will naturally need to be revealed.... it's my personal opinion though that before there is any sexual encounter you ought to disclose your HSV status.... I know some will disagree with me on this but, I think it is morally wrong not to disclose first.  This can be a make/break situation for most people but, again, I feel it is simply wrong not to give the other person the whole story since your decision not to disclose could put their health at risk.... that is simply not an option in my opinion.  Looking back to my "pre-HSV" life I most certainly would want my partner to disclose their HSV+ status before intimacy so that I could make my decision as to whether I want to take that risk or not....

Thanks, CHT. I appreciate the feedback. The whole trauma of going through this has led me to figure out a lot about myself and my attachment wounds, so I'm taking courses to come out of this better. This girl really was my dream woman in so many ways, it's been the hardest heartbreak to deal with ever. I'm truly in a lot of pain, but using the pain as fuel to launch that new business and work with coaches. I also opened up to my family about HSV, so my parents and sister know now, and they were very loving and accepting of it. Since opening up about it, I feel way better around this thing. After opening up, I also found out that some mutual friends in our family have discordant couples who are married with children, so HSV hasn't stopped them from living a loving life. The thing is... all of these couples I mention did not disclose until 6-8 months into the relationship. So now I'm thinking it might be better not to disclose until I know things are very serious. I'll of course stay on the medication and use protection, but maybe this is a better route than disclosing upfront and scaring women off.

Hey @Lcj987 and welcome to the website. You can be sure that isn't HSV-2, looks nothing like it. It is much more likely to be folliculitis or inflamed fordyce spots.

Hey @JackThrowAway herpes causes an outbreak where it enters the body first and maybe a progressive spread. If it doesn't cause an outbreak at the entry site then it won't cause one elsewhere, it also won't 'jump' upon infection - it would be more likely that the lesions are continuous from the penis to the anus. Nevertheless, testing trumps symptoms or any interpretation of symptoms. The correct conclusive result arises when: you have a positive swab; or An IgG HSV-2 level over 3.5 (Herpeselect test).

Slept with someone unprotected, roughly 2 weeks ago now. I felt generally unwell the couple of days after but I’d been drinking the whole weekend and didn’t have much sleep either of the days of that weekend so put it down to that. 6 days after I noticed these spots appear on the shaft of my penis. Along with symptoms of discomfort in my shaft in the couple of days prior to them appearing. No pain when urinating at all that I have noticed. They don’t hurt, itch or tingle and they don’t have fluid in from what I can see or feel if I squeeze them and have never burst? I went to a sexual health clinic to get checked up, they took bloods to do a full test and looked at the spots but said they saw nothing that concerned them but I’m not sure about that, any advice? The smaller spots under the shaft are just follicles I had diagnosed years ago and non-sti related.
