Im done!

Hi everyone,

im dealing with this illness since i was a child, im 34 now, and im done.

I am tired to check and stress at every tingle i get, running and get ice or whatever in a hope that it will not pop out and leave me disfigured. Tired of feeling so down and depress as I see it Coming and all that ritual of checking on the internet if anything comes out and will make me free of this poison.

I just had a baby and can’t even kiss him, i see myself avoiding carrying to much as im so scared to give him herpes. I have an older son that i cuddle à lot and barely kiss, same for my partner.

I dont understand how such a illness doesnt get a priority in research!! Of course, we dont die from it (actually we could cause it can touch the brain in the worse case).

Im done, avoiding some food, get stress if i had a long sun exposure etc...

Im talking valacyclovir occasionnaly, but since i dont sleep well because of the newborn, im fighting everyday using everything i can to stop the multiples outbreaks that tries to appear all around my mouth! Its not totaly out (im taking valacyclovir 1g + ice on the sore+ acyclovir cream) but its all red and itchy!

Im starting to feel really dépressed and tired, since it will always be like that, never kno when it can occur... arf...

ps: english is not my current language sorry for any mispelling.

I can understand your feeling of not able to kiss or touch your own children.

The feeling is even more pain full than deadly disease like HIV.

Hoping for the cure soon, meanwhile try to be strong and careful.

Hold him. Kiss him on the top of his head? On his back that is covered by a shirt? Flip his bib up and use it as a barrier edge for a kiss and make funny noises and get that eye contact up close? Move in close even if you just rub his nose with yours.

The more you learn the more comfy you will feel.

Thank you for your support, its the only options i have, although im breastfeeding, and i wont even take the risk to touch his clothes with my mouth if i have a breakout...

Anyway, i might try a suppressive treatment hoping i can get free for a while, till a real solution comes out. I wonder if there is a solution somewhere...

Remember that you are dead a lot longer than you are alive! Life is for living. Seize the day!

What sores are you getting and how often? Suporssive therapy may well be a good idea for you. I’d also suggest discussing immune health with your doctor, your thyroid for example.

@EssenceL25 there really isn't a question mark around the source, it's your latest partner. The median time from infection to an outbreak of lesions upon initial infection is 4 days.  The only thing that isn't certain is the type I suggest.

I asked if it was hsv 1 or 2 and the doctor said it was Hsv2. I’m not sure i just asked him when he was tested last he said this year I said I think we should go test together and he agreed . I’m going to bring it up again cause I really need to know if he gave this to me I wasn’t sure since it was so close to my previous relationship.

@EssenceL25 then it is all beyond reasonable doubt that the current partner is the source. A 'perfect' fit in terms of timing, symptoms and swab. It may be though that the type is not technically known. Culture swabs are very often not typed and just assumed to be HSV-2 if taken from a genital location. If you received oral sex in the days leading into 7 March then it is 50/50 as to whether this is HSV-1 or HSV-2. You could contact your doctor and confirm if the swab was actually typed (which is a second test where fluorescent antibodies for HSV-1 and HSV-2 are added and see which one 'glows').  If that test wasn't done then you do not know type. If you have oral HSV-1 yourself (cold sores) then this will be HSV-2. Does your partner have oral HSV-1? It is somewhat strange for him not to rush and test - many people have a 'reaction' if they truly do not know their status and have concerns that you infected them etc. (not initially rational of course). This indicates he may know his status - or maybe he just isn't simply the sharpest tool in the shed!?

I had flu like symptoms and ulcers on my vagina . They did a culture and I tested positive for hsv2. I asked my partner to get tested he agreed but I’m not sure if he will cause he hasn’t said anything else about it.
