Outbreaks in non genital area

I have never posted here before and am rather new.  I was curious as to whether or not outbreaks can go to other areas of the body, i.e. backs of knees, elbows, etc.  I seem to be getting more and more outbreaks around the time of my menstrual cycle.  My hormones are very unbalanced right now and I feel that could be a contributing factor.

That really wouldn’t be possible, the elbows especially would not be typical spot for a herpes outbreak.

Most likely this is an unrelated skin issue that you should diacuss with your doctor.

Around my period I get itchy bumps in my vulva area, my ankles and sometimes elbows.  It is so odd.  I haven't had a vaginal outbreak in many years.

What does all this have to do with herpes? Why are you suspicious of having herpes? Were you diagnosed with it? Sounds like you weren't. If it does turn out to be genital herpes, I doubt very much your elbow and ankle issues have anything to do with herpes.
