Igg results

I received my igg results of HSV 1 positive at 1.7 and HSV negative at .3 I believe.  Is my 1.7 result a low positive? If I was currently experiencing an outbreak shouldn't it be higher?

Thanks in advance!

I just had my testing done 3 days ago so I am still waiting on my swab results.

The issue of low positives is quite different for HSV-1 compared to HSV-2. This occurs for a number of reasons, including the high proportion of the population with the virus and the long length of time many people have had it.

Given the high proportion of people with HSV-1, you most likely do have it. Overwhelmingly, this relates to an oral infection.

Swabs are definitive though, I note that your previous swabs have been negative. Hence if this latest swab is negative for you, you can confidently conclude that you have an oral HSV-1 and no genital herpes of either type.

Swab came back as positive today.

You could be building antibodies still and if you retested your number may be much higher.

Although retesting isn’t really needed since you know your status.
