I just want to know how active does herpes virus stay on objects. Me and my roommate are very close she comes in my room and uses a lot of my things. She just got diagnosed with genital herpes. She came in crying and I gave her hugs and such was just really supportive... but then she tells me... that she was using my dildo. I was grossed out and am still in shock. She didnt clean it or anything after she took it from me- so do i have it now too? The dildo of course had been not used for days. Can the virus die after days or would it stay alive? I am really confused.

The virus doesn't survive long at all in an oxygenated atmosphere, so no, it won't live for days on objects like dildos. Once outside the body, it dies quickly.

My personal feeling though is, it's time to buy a new one and hide it. I know you said you and she are close, but there's close, and there's too close, if you know what I mean.

OMG. I think i'd freak if someone used my personal battery powered friends. That's just insane. Not only would i get rid of that toy, but i'd probably put a kibosh on the borrowing. That's just.... icky!

However, like writercll said, i don't think you have to worry about transmission. BUT EW!!!

Here's the link again https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/30551986/ Bula, always include the http:// in URLs that you post so that we can just click on them instead of having to copy and past to the URL field.

Any views on this update on the trivalent vaccine candidate? Appears to show some promise including some effect therapeutically though not sure how much. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/30551986

I was exposed as condom broke and after feeling funny I got us tested and she sure had hsv2 antibodies was like 15.5. I never got flu like symptoms. Just this mild burning sensation

Thanks and yes I've been careful with towels and I take precaution as if I do have it. The thing is I don't have half the symptoms and maybe hsv1 is helping
