Transmission Question

Recommended Posts

leadjad123

Hi!

I have genital herpes (HSV1), and so far my outbreaks have only been in the anal region, right around the anus. I have never gotten any lesions or strange sensations on my penis. My question is, despite never having lesions on my penis, is it possible to still spread the herpes via my penis? Or can the virus only be spread through my anal region since that is the location where the lesions present themselves?

I just received this diagnosis am not sure exactly what to disclose to future partners. If the only chance of spreading the virus is from skin-skin contact with my anus, do I still need to tell partners if we engage in sexual activities that dont involve my anal region? I have asked this question to several physicians and have got conflicting answers.

Thank you so much!

Yes you can technically shed from anywhere in the boxer short region.

There are 5 sacral nerve ganglions and it is not clear which of these might or might not Harbour the virus. It is possible for example that your herpes is just in your inner anal area, but you won’t know.

I have the same issue and I have asked a specialist about this. Even if you only get ob’s in one zone, your entire genital region is infected front to back as the entire area shares the same nerves.

@AnonFI have been wondering why I have recently had an OB in a slightly different area than normal, is this why? Can I have an OB any where in my genital region? I was afraid it may be spreading.

just follow careful hygiene. my thoughts are a heated towel rail that completely drys out your towel and care when drying.

not sure. id say not likely...althou i have read some odd things at times...just follow careful hygiene....if you are worried let that area air dry.

just dont TOUCH sores....have a soapy barrier on your hands when washing and take care if you are having an outbreak not to touch them.

if you suspect you have spread the infect contain the area Quickly and see a doctor.

Please without scaring let people know ...this is a real issue in this forum.

we havent heard back from the guy who sounded like he had spread the infection down his leg with a towel. he was undiagnosed...suspected shedding in the groin. the spread sounded like he had rubbed the towel on his groin and then leg.

so if something involves rubbing and friction in quick succession from the infected area this can be a real issue. the honeycomb fact sheet covers most of it...but i seriously disagree w/ them on the towels.

it happens to people with not so great health...look after your health very carefully.

its really important to warn WITHOUT SCARING...new members of the risks...esp people going throu diagnosis as they are not medicated.

it seems my troll has gone away...if he comes back ignore him he ruins his own credibility by his comments... as even the HC website agrees with most of what i said.

i regular complain to admin. i have just found a case of bad advise in regards to this forum. if it turns out to be correct i am hoping there will be a court order issued to this forum to inform each new member of the risks. they cannot be sued due to their disclaimer.

(((i am sorry for your delusional disorder)

yeah i get over emotional and experience hightened emotions...that is all...i am not delusional...

everyone who has been here a while knows WisolnAus...other than your few followers who are seriously misinformed regarding this condition and i hold them directly responsible if this girl has not had her hand infection attended to or it has spread to other locations or another family member.

you have zero creditability here and you should stop embarrassing yourself. honestly you are so retarded you are not even worth typing to.

That's exactly right, you can return to your life and get the blood test as a sleep easy in 12 weeks time (from the last episode).

Him and his ex have regular breakouts with all the traditional symptoms and I believe he was swabbed.  So I can return to life as it was before all of this drama ? I may still look into a blood test is I am confident it is accurate

@Laurenhelena how is this guy sure he has herpes? All sounding a bit odd to me. Yes it is very unlikely you will develop lesions now. Rubbing skin to skin is required for any feasible transmission chance. The odds of transmission with unprotected vaginal sex are of the order of 0.08% per epsiode. Halve this if a condom is worn. Compare that to chamydia that has about a 33% chance of transmission with unprotected sex; now that's contagious!

I just feel that it’s known as such a contagious STD - I’ve been lying to my family cause when I tried to talk about it they became very anxious and begged me to tell them I hadn’t slept with him when I had - If someone told me that they slept with someone with genital herpes my mind would instantly think they had it.  So it’s unlikely then that I’m going to get symptoms now? I’m not going anything further with that guy but we have cuddled and kissed in bed with underwear on, is that ok?  Im quite sure he has hsv2 given that his ex gave it to him through a threesome  I’ve never had a cold sore

Hey @Laurenhelena i think by your own admission you are letting fear get the better of you. Any flu symptoms (immune toxic shock) happen after the lesions, not before. Remember that most instances of sexual activity do not result in transmission of herpes. In the end it takes one exposure... but how many times has the person received oral sex from someone with HSV-1? or had sex with someone with HSV-2 even if they didn't know it was present? The UK has amongst the lowest incidence of genital HSV-2 in the world! There's a very good chance he has HSV-1. This means much lower transmission chances than you might think and even a chance it is near zero if you have an oral HSV-1 infection yourself!
