sertralin (SSRI) and herpes - can it trigger?

Recommended Posts

Hi!

I´m wondering about SSRI drugs such as sertralin and herpes. I feel like there possibly may be a connection where my SSRI meds are causing more nerve itching from my HSV. I googled real quick and saw that herpes simplex was listed as one of the uncommon side effects of sertralin. Anyone knows anything about this? Am I just worrying for nothing?

I used to take that med. If anything it might have caused me to have less obs because of less stress and anxiety. So i doubt it's causing you more obs. What it did do was turn me into an emotionless zombie with no highs of happiness and no lows of sadness. It felt really strange to not have any emotions so I came off it.

Well 99% of my highs in my life came from my dating life and sex and I have none of either of those now so trading no highs for no lows doesnt sound that bad to me :D.

I'm not that well versed in HPV but HPV eventually is cleared by the body on its own.  A vaccine does exist which helps immunize against certain strains of HPV (not all of them), but will not treat HPV for those who already have it.  Everyone, male and female, who is eligible should get the Gardasil vaccine. If a new vaccine exists to treat HPV that's great, but I'm doubtful based on a quick Google search.

I am new to all of this. My girlfriend has been told by a docter she has Human Papillomavirus (HP) and that in Mexico they have a cure they just develop, I guess a month or so ago Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine , have anyone heard of this. It is a lot on the internet about it. But I don't know how much I trust it.. Thank you AMM
