Hello, I'm new here. I just recently got results but can't speak to a doctor until next week. Can someone help me with my results? I'm freaking out...  1gG 44.50 H (0.00-0.90 index) 2gG <0.91 (0.00-0.90 index)

Hey @Pamz welcome to the website.

The result shows that you clearly have a HSV-1 infection. This will almost undoubtedly be a childhood oral infection. Do you remember ever getting oral cold sores when a child? Do they reoccur today?

HSV-2, which is usually a genital herpes infection, is a clear negative for you.

So why did you test? What symptoms did you have? Was there a sexual exposure you were concerned about?

I had a burning sensation in my genitals and it was so bad I couldn't even sit, but the doctor told me it was not a herpe, it was more of q cut. I used to get them as a kid with weather changes. I'm scared, I don't know what to tell my partner, my doctor wasn't much help on details. According to her as long as I don't have a breakout I should be fine....

Hey @Pamz you have oral cold sores just like 70% of the population.

Your genital issues will have nothing to do with HSV-1.

Your partner also probably has HSV-1. As you’re now in the relationship and no one asked for testing regarding HSV, there is no need for any disclosure now regarding oral cold sores. However there would be no issues in sharing what is going on for you with your partner.

Up to 50 percent of genital herpes is caused by hsv1

That’s likely to be true, but. It relevant in the OPs case given the testing.

If you are having genital symptoms. . and test positive for hsv1 its very relevant. Op may indeed have ghsv1

Yeah @Lukeherpwalker I agree. Many people just see the igg tests and listen to random internet strangers about their results being from a childhood infection and on their mouth.

The fact is I got genital herpes because someone didn’t want to believe their HSV1 was genital when it was. Blood tests never can tell you location. Fact. Let’s deal with facts instead of highly unsupported opinions in the name of a life long virus shall we?

@Pamz the sad truth of the matter is unless some type of blister or bump or papercut type sore appears in your genital area, you may never truly be certain if you do or don’t have genital herpes.  You definitely have HSV1, but the blood tests doesn’t say where it is in your body.  If something does pop up down there, make sure you go get it swabbed ASAP.  Call your doctor immediately and make an urgent care appoinment that day to be seen and swabbed for herpes.

But yea, that is why the tests for this virus is pretty much garbage.

You got HSV-1 from genital to genital contact? Do you have any idea how rare that is? Extremely, extremely rare, to the point that a lot of experts are dubious that it's even possible.

hello all, update... so the white ulcer inside started around january 4... and today it is still there... no burning while i pee, just a constant mild irritation feel, no other symptoms i went back to get retested 2/12 so 2.5 months after exposure... including HSV, HIV, gon, chlam, everything came back negative... the doctor thinks it's some form of chlamydia, he gave my doxy for 10 days is it too soon to tell if i have HSV? is it possible to have an ulcer inside the urethra and be fungal or bacterial?

Probably not many.  I'm going to change my twitter symbol to the copper ribbon at least.

okay! I guess I will just start at the basic dosage of vitamin C and go up every week little ? I take 1500 mg of super lysine like the bottle says and it still gives me gas and diarrhea. hoping it will pass if not I'll drop down to 2 a day! I really appreciate the advice! i know we would all.do ANYTNING to not have OB  at the moment idc about stigmas od boyfriends or dating or sex....I just care about FEELING healthy in my own skin. this is my one and only life

That sounds like a good place to begin.  The lysine worked really well for me for about a year and a half.  Then things got steadily worse for me and nothing worked until vitamin C.  My immune system is not that great even tho i take care of myself, so u may have good luck if u have a decent one.  With the vitamin c, u must 1) take it at intervals throughout the day, not all at once 2) dont increase the amount u r taking too fast 3) it will give u gas at higher doses and even diarrhea if u go crazy with it. These r signs to lower your dose!  If u can just control your OB's with vitamin c and lysine or anything else, maybe a cure will finally become available.
