Bright red blood

Hi,

I am near what I had hoped was the end of my outbreak and a new symptom hit me.  Bright red blood.  Its there when I wipe and its definitely not period blood.  Is this a usual symptom?  Have other people experienced this?  It seems to be quite a lot.  I only have 2 outer sores - they are nearly healed now - and i have one (maybe more i don't know) just at the entrance to the vagina.  I think this may be where the blood is coming from.  Ive tried to have a look but its hard to see.

Other symptoms i have experienced - flu type symptoms, agonising pains in back of leg on side of sores, pain to pee, burning tingling sensation over whole genital area, yellow discharge, extreme tiredness.  I have been visually diagnosed with HSV, waiting swab results.

Ah. Glad you have answers. I've not heard of anyone bleeding. Ouch. Was that your first outbreak? Was the yellow discharge vaginal? If so, was it "snot-like?"

I'm either still on my first outbreak (after a week of no sores,) or on my second one in the same month. Yay. (Or a very slight possibility that I dont have hsv at all because I've only for a visual diagnosis at the moment. But thats highly unlikely.)

@Hopingimwrong That was my first outbreak.  The yellow discharge was vaginal and it was really thick, almost green.  Yes i would say it was almost snot like.  That lasted a few days then disappeared.  Im on my second outbreak - although I don't think my first ever cleared up completely they are so close together.

I think the blood was menstrual.  Im on the mini pill so i never know when i will have a period.  I feel like this has brought my period on if that is even possible!

I hope you get answers soon and start feeling better.  x

My one and only lesion is lightly bleeding tonight when I dab at it. Definitely the lesion. Beginning to think this might just be an ingrown hair, ...but my boyfriend is out of town and I obviously can't get my face down there.

Don't mess with it. Maybe dab to with peroxide and leave it alone.

I have no idea if this is a continuation of the initial, a second one, an ingrown hair, or what. :( :( :( :(

I only have a visual diagnosis at this point. Do you mind checking out my most recent thread and seeing what you think? @GlitterDx Thanks in advance. ((()))

I’m going to force him to get tested ! Thanks for your help !

@EssenceL25 there really isn't a question mark around the source, it's your latest partner. The median time from infection to an outbreak of lesions upon initial infection is 4 days.  The only thing that isn't certain is the type I suggest.

I asked if it was hsv 1 or 2 and the doctor said it was Hsv2. I’m not sure i just asked him when he was tested last he said this year I said I think we should go test together and he agreed . I’m going to bring it up again cause I really need to know if he gave this to me I wasn’t sure since it was so close to my previous relationship.

@EssenceL25 then it is all beyond reasonable doubt that the current partner is the source. A 'perfect' fit in terms of timing, symptoms and swab. It may be though that the type is not technically known. Culture swabs are very often not typed and just assumed to be HSV-2 if taken from a genital location. If you received oral sex in the days leading into 7 March then it is 50/50 as to whether this is HSV-1 or HSV-2. You could contact your doctor and confirm if the swab was actually typed (which is a second test where fluorescent antibodies for HSV-1 and HSV-2 are added and see which one 'glows').  If that test wasn't done then you do not know type. If you have oral HSV-1 yourself (cold sores) then this will be HSV-2. Does your partner have oral HSV-1? It is somewhat strange for him not to rush and test - many people have a 'reaction' if they truly do not know their status and have concerns that you infected them etc. (not initially rational of course). This indicates he may know his status - or maybe he just isn't simply the sharpest tool in the shed!?

I had flu like symptoms and ulcers on my vagina . They did a culture and I tested positive for hsv2. I asked my partner to get tested he agreed but I’m not sure if he will cause he hasn’t said anything else about it.
