Me Again

Recommended Posts

Jessie67

Hey again,

So,  I've been taking 500 mgs twice daily of valacyclavir for 5 days for an ongoing outbreak... yesterday,  i noticed that the OB is starting to spread.   My question is this... would it hurt me to add an additional 500 mg dose per day to try to knock it out?  Would that hurt me?  I'm finishing my monthly cycle,  too.

I'm also taking 5000 of Lysene and 5000 of vitamin C.  I'm starting to get discouraged.....

A lot of people find that the horse has bolted so to speak once an outbreak has commenced. Antivirals may do little for the actual outbreak.

You are overdosing on vitamin C and it’s all just going to waste and has no direct effect on herpes. 1g a day is plenty. Lysine does nothing so think about cutting that completely.

What type and location of herpes are you dealing with?

Really?  There is no reason to take the medicine if you have an OB?  Everything i read says that it helps shorten the duration.

That's not happening in my case... granted,  they're fairly mild but consistent.

I thought they were used to keep the virus from replicating and help healing.

So confused...

Hi

The symptoms began last Thursday.. seemed to be healing and then started up again.   I've been on the medication since then.   They're a cluster on my buttock... it never really blisters,  though, but almost.  It used to every time so i guess that's something.   I also get lesions on my girl parts.

Have you tested positive for HSV-2?

It may be that this issue on the butt is not a herpes lesion. Did the doctor explore other possibilities?

It was visually diagnosed.   It is herpes... I've had it for years but never took medication for it because it didn't happen often.   It's just recent that it's been reoccurring.  I've gone through a lot of life changes lately. Death of a spouse last Thanksgiving,   running my own company,  family stress... it's been a tough year.

Worthwhile getting tested so you know precisely what is going on. Especially if you are going to hit the dating scene.

Keep an open mind in the butt sore, if it’s still spreading with antivirals that may indicate another cause.

Okay,  here's an update... the new site that was bothering me this morning looks clearer and is no longer raised but it's still red.  I've started using tea tree oil mixed with coconut after someone suggested it.   I didn't take an extra dose so I don't know if it was the oil or the medicine.   I'm driving myself nuts with all of this.

yes, get IGG testing ASAP, but be prepared for it to come back negative this first time if it is your first infection. A swab would be better if you have fresh blisters.  If they are already healed, and if its your first infection, be prepared for another subsequent OB (I'm sorry to tell you) coming soon after the first.. You can get swabbed at that one then.  Stay strong.  Support your immune system. Get rest. Take Vit. C and some other herbals might be nice...I have posted some stuff about that in the past. collodial silver gel or spray perhaps too directly on sores hugs to you

No, no Custer. I pop it and it comes back. Thanks you so much for responding.

@Franky26 your vows include "from this day forth" - there is no fine print that grants you annulment for previous actions and certainly not for the random assortment of herpes viruses that every person walks down the aisle with. To the extent that it was required (and I do not believe it is, although this is not relevant) your partner has been forgiven in the eyes of the Lord for all her past actions; as part of your marriage vows you are joined in that forgiveness. That blood test is notorious for false positives, Having an oral HSV-1 cold sore infection is a known risk factor for a false positive. So yes I do recommend obtaining a further ELISA test. You may even try to obtain the Westernblot from University of Washington for the definitive word on the subject.

It is pretty definite he has HSV-2 so at least you will be concordant in that respect with no fears of passing it to him. Yes, there is a good possibility of some outbreaks within the first few months, however, this will not be a sign of your longer term experience which should improve tremendously.

Hey @WilsoInAus   Thank you for your reply, we live in north America, she did the test here in Canada, I will attach a copy of the test below. I understand your point of view but its hard for me to cope with this. I never thought this would happen to me which I m sure most people feel the same.  yes I did took vows for better or worst but I feel those vows are for whatever happens after marriage not because of something happened in the past.  i feel like this is something that is going to remind me of her past for the rest of my life. its not easy for me to look past that.
