Sorry to be annoying but I am so very confused. How can I have not given hsv2 to my husband ? He tested negative on a blood test for hsv2 . He tested positive for hsv1 blood test. I can’t figure out why the heck I never had anything close to a sore until now . My tests showed negative for igm . My swab test showed hsv2. Could this be wrong? Maybe I have hsv1 genitally and my partner gave it to me? We have been married for 14 years. I was sexually active with other men during my college years. It has been years. Now rightfully even though he knows I did not cheat he is questioning why he does not have hsv2 if I have it.

Hey @Dierra not at all you ask a great question that we can help with.

Every sexual episode is only a probability of transmission, 1 in thousands without an active outbreak. The chance of annual transmission rate to a male is 4%, hence your are not a lot over 50%.

You may be less than average in terms of transmission probability. Further there is some evidence that negative people can actually build some immunity to the virus with regular low levels of skin exposure.

I'm 99% confident that these are caused by Herpes. This is what they looked like when I first caught the virus, and in the same spots as well, although now much milder and smaller in size.  I have tested positive via swab when I first got the virus, and two times via blood test. However, since several people here are doubting my symptoms are caused by HSV, I might do another swab just to be sure. It's still good to rule anything else out beforehand.

And btw  @ayekayelle I’m sorry you’re considering divorce. I hope you are able to work it out with him. But if you’re not happy I think it’s worth taking the risk of leaving! You deserve to be happy!

Ikr! I’ll have guys be like “oh yeah you’re right, you’re not gross or less valuable but it is a deal breaker” I don’t really blame them (because I am still coming to terms with it being “not a big deal”)

It's very possible he or you were mostly a carrier. Neither one of you have to have sores all you have to do is shed.
