New HSV1 G diagnosis

Recommended Posts

Alexis Hamilton

I was diagnosed with HSV1 on my genitals yesterday. Needless to say I am a bundle of emotions. I’m angry at who gave it to me (I used protections) which I know doesn’t protect you from oral HSV or protect you 100% and concerned about what it his means for relationships in the future.  :(

Hey Alexis,

first of all: I can understand how you feel. However, don't worry too much about it. What would have happened if you would have got it on your mouth? Nearly everyone has the virus in his or her body today. That's just how it is. If you stay healthy, eat well and make sports regularly you'll be fine.

Relationships in the future won't change drastically. The only thing is that you should disclosure to the people you want to have sex with. I know, that sounds very scary and impossible at the moment, but believe me - I talked about it with the guys I wanted to have sex with and no one really had a problem with it. One even told me that he thinks he has it too B| (and I am sure he wouldn't have told me...)

If you google for "disclosure herpes" you will find some very good "How to"-videos and texts if you need some help. And if you are sad or whatever, just let this forum know - there are a lot of very nice people going to support you :yep:

Thanks. Yes I’m sad. I think a lot of people even though they may have it are totally ignorant to having it or don’t know how easy it is to get it etc. I am just struggling with I am relatively certain the person I got it from knew. Dating is hard enough as it is.  Sigh...

I'm 99% confident that these are caused by Herpes. This is what they looked like when I first caught the virus, and in the same spots as well, although now much milder and smaller in size.  I have tested positive via swab when I first got the virus, and two times via blood test. However, since several people here are doubting my symptoms are caused by HSV, I might do another swab just to be sure. It's still good to rule anything else out beforehand.

And btw  @ayekayelle I’m sorry you’re considering divorce. I hope you are able to work it out with him. But if you’re not happy I think it’s worth taking the risk of leaving! You deserve to be happy!

Ikr! I’ll have guys be like “oh yeah you’re right, you’re not gross or less valuable but it is a deal breaker” I don’t really blame them (because I am still coming to terms with it being “not a big deal”)

It's very possible he or you were mostly a carrier. Neither one of you have to have sores all you have to do is shed.
