Splitting up Amenivir

Recommended Posts

Kurdt01

Regarding the treatment from Japan....so you get 14 200mg tabs for $564....what if you split those into 28 100 mg pills ...the daily suppressive dose was 75mg....anyhow...what if you did that and took them for a week then took a week off? That would make one batch last 2 months...I wonder if that would work? Any theories thoughts or experience?

I've been wondering the same

I might just order it and try for myself

For prevention you're almost always better off taking the dose spread out over the day/week, than all at once.

Example: 500mg Valacyclovir twice a day probably is more effective than 1g all at once. Why? Less time that the virus can spread with no drug to slow it down.

For Amenamevir: 100mg every day would be *significantly* better than 200mg each for 3 days, then 3 days off. The longer the time you have no drug in your blood, the more likely you are to get an outbreak. Taking an entire week off would mean very little effect since that's more than enough time to get an outbreak.

The reason for this are the pharmacodynamics. Half the Valacyclovir has left your body after 2 hours. Half of Amenamevir has left your body after 9 hours.

How about daily 100mg amenamivir and 500mg valacyclovir? Would that be a good combination for suppression and/or viral shedding?

The valacyclovir portion is pretty well researched. And there are papers discussing potential synergistic effects between the two. So theoretically that could be a great combination.

Keep in mind we don't know much about long-term effects of taking daily Amenamevir, so that's an important caveat. For most people it would be better to wait a few years till these drugs are better understood and only take them under medical supervision.

That said, Do as I say, not Do as I do, because I'm taking 100mg Amenamevir and 1000mg Valacyclovir daily and I have not noticed any side-effects nor have I had any outbreaks since. I'll also take full blood tests every few months for additional safety.

I understand that Amenamevir has not been studied much, but I'm desperately looking for a good suppression since I am going on a vacation soon and would probably just take this combination for a month. I currently take 1000mg Valacyclovir but I still feel tingling, itchiness, sometimes see redness and I really do not want to risk getting an outbreak during my vacation nor transmit it to anyone if I were to have sex. I have GHSV1 btw...I don't know if I have oral HSV1, I'm stressing about this. I will be at the beach a lot.

Hi all  i have been to a doctor on 4 seperate occasions since I had unprotected sex with a woman who I later found out has herpes . They have said “it doesn’t look” like herpes . My penis always is red , inflamed anabolic has little red pimples on it.  I am constant uncomfort and pain in my gential areas, tingling , fatigue . None of the drs have done a blood test. I have researched DNA testing as they appear more accurate. I saw a dr this week and he took a swab. It’s always on my mind now because I have just started a relationship and don’t know if I should tell her. I’m scared she will run a mile . I haven’t told her because the dr said I was fine . I don’t know what do to do .  Any advice would be appreciated . I have a history with depression and this is adding to it

@clarke53 why do you think you do not have an asymptomatic genital infection. The mouth sores don’t seem to be herpetic.  What protection do you use genitally?
