Afraid to touch yourself

Recommended Posts

tiffannybrown

I am newly diagnosed, and my outbreak is no longer visible after 10 days of treatment. But I am afraid to wash myself in the shower, like to literally put my hand on my vulva. I said this when i went to the gyn, and she told me "well don't, just soap above your vulva and let the water wash the soap down."

When you are having an OB, or ending an outbreak will you wash where the outbreak is with your hand, or am i being paranoid?

Thank you

Once you contract hsv and develop antibodies (e.g. 3 - 6 months is a safe bet), it's very unlikely to auto-inoculate. Possible, but highly unlikely. Those that do auto-inoculate typically have immunity issues. That said, simple soap and water KILLS HERPES! Soap up well, scrub away, and don't worry about it.

I was pretty paranoid about that kind of thing as well when I was diagnosed (the only difference being that I'm a man and have different anatomy).

But frankly, unless you have other health issues, you probably aren't that likely to infect yourself elsewhere.  I'd be a bit more careful in the first 2 to 3 months since that's when you shed the most, but overall, not too much of a worry.

If it was easy, I'd already have herpes all over my hands and even my eyes.  Fortunately, it's pretty rare (but not impossible).

I'm glad I donated and will do so again when it hits $10,000, as you will, Mike. If anybody doubts what the Jerome group is trying to do, the report from Vail, CO in May 2018 makes it crystal clear. Their goal is to disable the virus and render it incapable of reactivating from latency, which is exactly what we want, and they are up to about 20% to 30% successful, which is SOLID progress.

I recently have atleast 3 scars which are already atleast 2 months now. I dont know it it is caused by a herpes, but as far as i can remember it stared last november 27, 2018. It did not have water filled blisters but it tingles. It was not painful at all. I thought it would just clear up after a week but it leaves a scar. I put a celetique scar remover but it didnt worked at all. The scars are still there and i think it is growing. Im afraid, scared and ashamed to go to the doctor. Pls help
