Do you need to take the chicken pox vaccine again for it to work against herpes? ( if you took them as a child)

Chicken pox/Shingles are all members of the Herpes family. That being said the chicken pox vaccine does not offer any protection against HSV-1 or HSV-2. The chicken pox vaccine is specific to varient of Herpes. Same thing applies to the Shingles vaccine, which is taken later in life to prevent an reoccurrence of a latent chicken pox infection.

Now do you need a booster shot for chicken pox later in life if you never contracted chicken pox?... I do not know but if you're inclined it probably would not hurt to get inoculated again.  Inlight of all of measles. mumps and other viral outbreaks across the country , I have been considering redoing all of my childhood immunizations again.

@dont quit!, Great effort by you to not pass it to your daughter. Fortunately, kissing is not the only way to show affection. I am sure you are already channelling through other means 🙂

That is good to hear! I have my appointment this evening, so hopefully they agree it is something else. It has not changed in appearance since Friday when I originally posted also.

Thanks for the input, I definitely did not know that prior to getting it I did want to input that I still only have the labia swelling but it hasn't progressed any further.

I'm sorry about your outbreak but as a Pfizer recipient that vaccine is potent and harsh with side effects. Wait until you get the second dose.
