Spreading outbreak to another herpes partner

Hi, can you cause an outbreak to another person who has herpes as well?  That is if you had the outbreak and had sex with your partner who has herpes too but was not symptomatic.  Would they have an outbreak as well or would they go uneffected?  Thanks guys!

If you are talking about say the two partners having genital HSV-2, then neither party can induce an outbreak in the other for that region.

Note that as couples often share the same 'environment' they have a decent chance of outbreaks at the same time, for example, stress of meeting a home loan repayment, a drinking binge, catching a flu etc.

Can you show some links to medical papers that confirms this? Or is this your assumption without having any medical degree in any form whatsoever?

The only things that the medical profession have hypothesised may be the cause of recurrent herpes outbreaks are:

- skin trauma to the infection site, such as sunburn to the lips or sex

- malaise from colds/flu may trigger oral outbreaks, but no correlation observed to genital outbreaks

- trauma to the body in general, surgery, car accidents for example

- hormonal changes, more pronounced in females.

See for example: https://www.webmd.com/genital-herpes/guide/potential-herpes-triggers

And from Terri just one example: https://westoverheights.com/forum/question/if-both-sexual-partners-have-hsv/

Patient: [The doctor] said that you can give the virus back and forth, so even if we both have it we still need to use condoms and take antivirals. Is that true, does having sex with someone who has hsv make your hsv worse? Since the initial rash in September, I have never had any other symptoms, so I don’t think I would need to take the antivirals, and using condoms every time is not that much fun (I have had a full std test and I am negative for everything except hsv2.) So I would only use those if I really have to, to protect him.

Terri Warren: I would also disagree with that position. If you are both infected with the same type, there is no concern about passing it back and forth. Having sex with someone else that has herpes does not make yours worse or his worse, if he is infected.

You have no medical proof either way. Stop feeding people false information.

If there’s no proof either way, how can it be false?

You made a definitive statement which is false. There's so much you and the medical community don't understand about hsv 🤣

Yet somehow, you do?

No lesions.

No positive swab.

No positive type specific blood test.

You need to reflect on why these truths make you so angry.
