Outbreaks with period...solutions?

I only knew I had HSV2 when I was hospitalised for viral meningitis a couple of years ago when it showed up in a blood test. My long term boyfriend knows all about it and is cool but since the blood test I’ve become hyper aware of every tingle and bump! I’ve probably had it for years without knowing...And I’ve now worked out that I have mild outbreaks around the time of my period. I pop some acyclovir and it’s all good but my question is; if I were to be on long term birth control would the outbreaks cease to occur, assuming that they are triggered by dipping hormones?

Thoughts please!
