What does the first sign of a cold sore feel like?

What does your first sign of a cold sore feel like? I've been panicking about herpes since having unprotected sex and previously posted about my story. I was earlier panicking over what I'm now confident (or at least mostly since they haven't seemed to change at all this week) are fordyce spots. However, starting a mere hour ago I've had a sharp pain on a very specific spot on my lip line of my lower lip. There's no bump yet but I'm curious on what some of your signs of getting one feels like. Everything I've found has stated pain, tingling, etc but not any specifics of what kind of pain.

I haven't quite figured out about searching certain forums yet so I posted this here.

Did you have fordyce spots before?

Hey @raymour for an initial infection, there are no symptoms preceding the outbreak, it just happens accompanied by other symptoms if any.

I had them at the corners of my mouth but not nearly to the extent or size they are now. I've never had them on my lower lip before and do at the moment. However, the spots haven't changed or blistered in the past several days and aren't sore or painful so I don't thi k they're something to worry about
