Confused about recent diagnosis

Recommended Posts

I am very confused about a new HSV2 diagnosis. I have had no symptoms that I know of (female). My results are an 11, so it's a clear positive. I had not had sex in almost 12 years, then one relationship a year ago. The person I had sex with has tested negative (he claims). Tonight I have a spot on my forearm. Is it possible I got a skin infection from something simple like the public pool? Or is it more likely he is lying? Can I have it and he NOT have it after having sex with him?

Hey @MD607 there are a number of possibilities that I'm happy to work through with you.

The first item is to clarify the test that you had and the result. Was it an IgG test? Were there separate tests for HSV-1 and HSV-2? Does the test result have the reference range. For example some tests have positive at 1.1, 11 or 20 depending on the type of test.
