Itching, sting and small red dot - appreciate input please

Recommended Posts

Laurenhelena

I slept with someone with herpes on  4th Nov. 8 days later I experience itching, 10 days later it starts stinging/ feeling swollen down there, j looked really carefully and in my urethra there is a small red dot that hurts when you touch it and the side of my opening is red and also hurts

these is quite clearly herpes isn’t it ? I assume the red dot is going to progress into a blister/ sore  ?
im going to get it checked on Monday but it’s just so horrible waiting to see if things develop and reading how horrible the first episode is

ive googled potential other reasons for this but there is nothing

did it take a while for sores and blisters to show up? It’s been like this for three days, I hate constantly checking and having false hope that they will disappear

even if it did and the GUM clinic cleared me I’d probably be paranoid that I still have it and would pass it on to my next partner

It doesn't mean that is hsv other conditions can do same be calm get tested first than u c what will u do do u have eny wounds like cuts, blisters, redness lower back pain flu like symthoms, weakness tiredness he could pass u yeast infection bacteria to urethra so on if it's only spot u probably don't have to worry go to doctor and check herpes it's not just a red spot

@Laurenhelena

If you get sores you can have them swabbed. But timing is important so swabbing is not always conclusive if the swab is negative; i.e. if you swab too early or too late, the virus may not be there yet or be gone, respectively.

An antibody test is the other thing you can do, but you need to wait 3 months to allow the antibodies to build up in your system.

An IgG test at 3 months or later has a very good chance of giving you an accurate result; i.e. you could test at 2 months, and the chances of accuracy are, I believe, pretty good, but they are lower than if you wait for 3 months. I would wait 3 months.

If it turns out to be hsv, know that there is a whole community here for you to talk with. All is not lost when you get a herpes diagnosis; Next month will be 37 years for me with ghsv2.

I assume you are young?

I can only state that the accuracy for IgG at 3 months is very good (i.e. I believe over 90%). Regarding a swab, you'll have to observe the progression of the sore. I probably wouldn't swab when it first appears but don't wait until it starts subsiding either. You'll get a sense of when it's full blown. I would think that's the best time to swab, but I'm no expert.

So upon inspection using a flash light I can see two tiny sores which for the first two days hurt to touch and caused some discomfort when urinating

today I have no pain but they are still there

this is obv herpes :( going to get checked tomorrow

dont understand why this first outbreak hasn’t been that painful and the sores haven’t become blisters and the pain has gone ... unless my body is waiting to attack more aggressively in the next few days ? Confusing and I’m becoming obsessed

Sorry you're experiencing discomfort down there. Just know that you're doing the right thing by checking it out at the clinic, and if they're sores that have opened recently there's a good chance a swab will give you piece of mind with the result.

As you say they're quite small, so you never know what it might be.

if it is what you think it is, as someone who's both HSV1 & 2 negative, believe me when i say it doesn't make you undatable or any less of a person. I have dated someone long term who was positive, and i didn't get it. You aren't going to automatically give it to partners just because you have it. The anxiety and social stigma really is the worst, and that changes and disappears the more people learn what hsv is. Most don't realise cold sores are hsv

A primary outbreak is typically the worst so if it is hsv, it's a good thing at least yours is not that bad. But we're getting ahead of ourselves - try not to worry, and remember billions of people have it and don't even realise.

Well I got it checked

and the woman was adamant I don’t have it as I wasn’t in pain anymore and the sores were small but she still took a swab

i know I have it, it’s not normal to have sores especially within 10 days of being exposed to herpes

from my time reading posts on here I know that in herpes is different fro everyone and I’ve read before that some people barely notice their first outbreak and then months later it then becomes horrific, whilst others have a horrible first outbreak

just going to wait but I know I have it

also to add, this is the third GUm clinic I’ve been to in UK this year due to dating a guy with herpes

One said it was illegal not to disclose herpes whereas the other two said it wasn’t and kinda hinted that I didn’t need to?? ( if I had it )

U don't have to disclose, by the law but its right thing to disclose, some people have mild outbreaks but some have hell of life, enything u don't want 4 ur self don't do to others.. Salute

I’ve recently been diagnosed with hsv2 by blood test. I havnt had any symptoms or outbreaks and it’s been 60days since I’ve been exposed. I check down there every day spread eagle. Yup nothing though. I was told that I don’t get medication. It’s been 2 days since I’ve been told by the nurse who barely knew anything about herpes. I asked to do a second testing and I was denied of that. So I scheduled another test to be done at a different clinic with a set gyno. I hope you get the answers your looking for.

I was in a similar position - I "knew" i had it, i saw two doctors who disagreed and they were adamant i didn't have it. But turns out I was wrong, and blood tests showed that. Not all doctors or nurses are well informed about herpes, but specialists in sti clinics should have a better idea.

Maybe u are false postitive, if u don't have symthoms, or maybe u were exposed long time ago and didn't know it, check again is the test u have it type specific igg test or?

It’s now 61 days since I’ve been ‘exposed’ to hsv2. The NA said it was a IGG test by blood. I had a previous testing done in April of 2019 and it was negative for everything including HIV. I have not felt any different and no sores or pain still. I even look at the pink part of my vagina and it’s smooth and clear of any odd stuff that herpes patients look for. I go Thursday for another test to a clinic that will actually know and by that I mean have years of experience in knowing about stds.

When I was tested November 13th, my body is still healing from an abortion procedure I got on November 1st. The REAL doctors and nurses there said no sex obviously and masturbating in order to heal properly down there and also it will help avoid infection that may happen down there.

Im sorry but if i was a beting man i would say yes.  Welcome to the club.  That's exactly how mine started 10 years ago.  You get over it even forget about it till those little tingles start then you take your antvirals and try and stop stressing.  You learn what triggers your outbreaks.  Life goes on.  If your single goto a herpes dating site and dont waste your time with the fuckfaces at your work or school.

I had a potential exposure about 12 days ago with a random (not my gf). The lady gave me protected oral however prior to putting the condom on she had masturbated me and at some point took saliva from her mouth as lubrication when rubbing my penis. Almost immediately within less than 24 hrs I started to feel tingling in my genital area. Not continuously but once every few hours.  At first I thought it was just psycological. I started to monitor my penis daily to see if there were any changes. About 7 days after the exposure I started to notice very small red bumps in the gland area. Tingling had increased but I had no pain and no itchiness sometimes the sensation would be coldish almost numbing like. I went to an sti clinic and was told the reddish area was not indicative of herpes and that it looked more like an irritation. I was told there was no sore or blister to swab for culture analysis. Additionally I was asked to come back in a month for blood testing. They said my chance of getting genital herpes from such saliva transmission was low?? They never explained why the tingling though. 2 days later the tingling still had not stopped and now I could feel tingling occasionally in my but cheeks and tailbone..very mild tingling sensation. On day  10 the swelling increased slightly and I thought I could see a bump in my urethra . I went to a walk in clinic and the doctor also dismissed it that it isn’t herpes.  I’m now on day 12 since exposure The redness and swelling has reduced significantly hardly noticeable now but tingling in genital area and buttocks has not subsided comparatively. Additionally today for the first time I felt tingling and slight pains in my feet. I’m not sure what to do. Is this herpes. I have a girlfriend and I’m praying I have not infected her. It would break my heart if I had she doesn’t deserve that. She hasn’t mentioned any symptoms and she is the type to say if she did. But I can’t ask her to get checked yet cause I’m not sure if it is or isn’t ? Are my symptoms indicative of herpes or not redness and tingling but no sores or blisters ?? Wishing everyone here answers and happiness through their journey

Awesome. If all goes well when might this realistically be available for purchase?

Dude, you just got severely censured by Mods for denying the link between HSV and HIV and spreading dangerous misinformation.  This isn't the right time to begin spouting off your crackpot theories again.
    • WilsoInAus
I have no real idea why it says positive, something to do with the IgM - I’m not sure. I chose my words carefully though, this does show you do not have genital herpes. Why? Because HSV-2 testing is very accurate especially for recent infections. So is HSV-1. However HSV-1 can produce flaky results if you’ve had the virus a long time. If this is you then you may have an oral HSV-1 infection from childhood.
    • Roxanne11
Hey Wilson! Thank for responding yet again to me! What are your thoughts on the line that says ‘Herpes Simplex Virus 1     Positive’?? this doesn’t state IgG - it just says I’m positive for HSV1?
    • WilsoInAus
Hey @Roxanne11 those results are quite clear for IgG. Being negative you can be highly confident you do not have either type genitally.
