Is this the start of me having symptoms or am i freaking out in my head?

I was diagnosed back in 2019 (most devestating day of my entire life). I can't stop crying knowing that im now considered dirty, tainted, unlovable. I have been rejected constantly (i would get to know someone and once i felt the connection would grow deeper i would disclose and then get dumped right then or by the next day). I hate this curse which i now have because a love life doesnt exist considering im a "leper" and not worth the time😣😭😭😟😟. But i say all that to ask is this a herpes bump? Ive been doing my research to get confirmations that herpes could be a single bump and i can't find any solid proof. It started as a small bump on my inner thigh, didn't hurt, was just the color of my skin. I got scared but chose not to mess with it until now. I squeezed it and a whitehead came out, i kept squeezing it and now its red and slightly painful. I feel fine, but i also feel that i just opened pandoras box. Is this it? Will this be my first time really having to accept that i might have symptoms now? I already have many mental issues (been committed twice now) and having no symptoms made it alil better. But this? I would have to kill myself, because if no one wanted me now without symptoms, i know for sure no one would want me now with symptoms. Things will never getter better for people with herpes, and im crying because i need to accept that.

Hey @Missbeauty400 and welcome to the website.

What you describe and the pic is not suggestive of a herpes lesion. Visual diagnoses are poor at the best of times - I’d suggest this is way less than a 50% chance of being related to herpes.

Which brings us back tp the 2019 diagnosis. Are you suggesting that you have not had a positive swab of an active outbreak?

If not, then I’d suggest there is potentially a massive chance of a misdiagnosis.

What did the 2019 diagnosis actually consist of?

@WilsoInAusThe 2019 diagnosis came back as a positive blood test for herpes. I never had an outbreak of any kind, no fever, back aches, swollen lymph nodes or anything. I literally went in and got tested for everything ( i requested all panels, hiv, herpes1&2, etc) as part of my annual checkup that i take. Till this day i still dont have any symptoms but my blood test came back as 10.80 for a positive hsv2 but negative for hsv1. No symptoms whatsoever

Hey @Missbeauty400 thanks for the extra info.

Just confirming that this test was IgG and that >1.1 was positive? Are you in the US?

If that was a Herpeselect test with >1,1 as a positive then that does confirm an infection. Although you were diagnosed in 2019, it would seem that your infection occurred quite some time before that, maybe back as far as when you first became sexually active.

If you had sexual partners from a higher incidence population, then it would be appropriate to assume that you do have a genital infection.

However, there is a small possibility that maybe you are infected elsewhere than genital. An example might be the oral region from giving oral sex to an infected person. It could also potentially be on your hand. Maybe you have a recollection of unrecognised lesions at these or somewhere else on your body?

I think it is worth knowing that should your infection be genital and you take antivirals as a suppressive and the male uses condoms then there is about a 1% chance of the partner becoming infected in a whole year of sex.

@WilsoInAus yes it was an Igg test but even when i first became sexually active i have had no symptoms at all, not even orally. I always used protection and so have my partners, still had no visible infections near my pubic region, thighs, buttocks, lower stomach, or near my face and mouth. My doctor said i was asymptomatic (well in her words she truly believes that i dont have any herpes but rather the antibodies for herpes). She explained that i could simply have been exposed but have only the antibodies for it. She also explained that i had no need to take antivirals since im not experiencing active outbreaks and that even though i shed, i have less than 1% of spreading anything to anyone (my current boyfriend has been with me for two years, condoms/no condoms and he tests negative for both types of herpes every single time).

@Missbeauty400 your doctor is wrong one count any way. At the time of writing, there is no known way of having antibodies without actually having the virus.  One day there might be a vaccine for HSV that will cause antibodies to be present without the actual virus but not today.

However your doctor might be close in terms of the low chance of passing the virus.

By the way, you seem to have an awesome bf who accepts you and the condition. There is no real reason to believe that simply because you might have a outbreak now and again that his chances will shift - stay away from sex during outbreaks and his odds remain unchanged.

There is one last possibility to explore. Have you ever discussed your diagnosis with your mother? There is a possibility you may have been infected at birth. In this case you’d be carrying the infection orally or upper buddy and have almost zero chance of passing the virus on.

@WilsoInAus well i actually believe my doctor( i never have breakouts and according to the nurses who also ran tests on me-been tested several times). I stongly believe i either don't have it or im asymptomatic. My bf actually isnt ok with it, he just says that he is willing to be with me even though he is taking an unecessary risk. But the good news is that i found a cure that will rid my body of the virus (im actually in the process of it right now, after another young lady got rid of it in 6months- her tests are constantly negative and there are no traces of the virus in her blood stream, this was a year ago). So i know there is hope and ill continue to believe in God to get me through this process of healing.

Herpes resides in certain neurons, not the blood stream.

I'll send an email to Anderson and ask why he is taking so long to answer.. maybe he doesnt speak well english, i dont know, but with me usually he answers within 1 day.

I’m very sorry to hear about your situation. I too have just been diagnosed. I think what we need is to realize that maybe what happened to us isnt a bad thing and that maybe its God trying to tell us we need to focus on something else in our lives right now. Sending love and prayers your way - hopefully our prayers will be answered with a cure soon.    Also I’m not sure where Phili is, but I’m in Los Angeles and would love to have a conversation over the phone with you if that would help.
