Is this ever going away?

Hello,

I  believe I have recently caught genital hsv-1 on my penis gland. I get these almost rash-like reddish symptoms and tiny bumps and red dots on my penis. I have seen a derm & an infectious disease doc. Derm thinks I may have caught it and prescribed an acyclovir based pills for it for 5 days. It helped reduce symptoms but not completely. Then went to the infectious disease doc who gave me acyclovir cream and pills. I took the pills religiously and the cream I put about 3 times a day for about 5 days. The symptoms have further reduced but not completely. I still see tiny bumps, and rash like symptoms and a few tiny red dots that look to have become permanent dwellers on my penis gland. The rash seems to come and go very often throughout the week depending if my gland is covered. Sometimes the rash is more prominent and sometimes it looks like it's going away. I followed up with the infectious doc and he said I may just be having a derm related reaction and sent me off to see the derm again. I have a follow up with my derm next week.  Side note: I have had a male yeast infection on my penis gland in the past but it reacted well to ketanozal & hydrocortisone. This time not so much.

I am posting pictures to see if anyone can help me out.

1. Do my symptoms look like an a atypical genital hsv-1 infection or am I dealing with a post derm related reaction? Is the hsv-1 making my yeast opportunistic?

2. Can I get it to look better than this with any other self treatments?

3. Does it look like I am still shedding the virus?

Hi @SuperSnap and welcome to the website.

Once you have an established oral HSV-1 infection as you do then you cannot spread it to another location or become infected genitally from a third party with HSV-1.

Your pictures are also not of HSV; it is yeast or a dermatitis condition (meaning an immune response or irregularity within your skin).

So I have tried using ketanozal plus hydrocortisone ointment. It's doesn't respond to it if anything it makes the red spots and redness more pronounced. Is it possible that this is my gland reacting to dormant genital virus that is lingering in my glands nerves?

Both a dermatologist and infectious disease doctor prescribed him HSV medicine. Why would they do that if this isnt "what herpes really does"?

To give everyone confidence that it wasn’t herpes related and conclude as the doctor did that it was a dermatitis issue to refer back to the dermatologist to continue with investigations.

Hello there @momma267 and welcome. There is no reason to believe that what you have there is other than a pressure sore, something that has emerged from rubbing with clothing or butt cheeks and exacerbated by bacteria or yeast.  Note that the first you’d learn of herpes is unlikely to be on your butt, instead where it enters your body, this is usually within the vaginal lips for females.

So to begin with, I am 26 and have been with the same partner for 8 years. I have only been with three people ever, one completely protected and the other we were both our firsts. I got this rash on my but while pregnant and my doctor said she was testing for it and I'm so confused. I've had two babies, breastfeed, and never had anything as much as a cold sore. Does this look like something anyone has experienced? I used fragrant soap down there and am hoping it's contact dermatitis or a heat rash from sweating and gaining so much weight.  Advice would be helpful. I'm stressing out a bit as I am pregnant. Hi, it is me again, apologies for the recent influx of posts. I've noticed a slightly raised area on the middle of my top lip with what i feel are some bumps. i do have a habit of biting my lips a fair bit and this area is frequented by my teeth. I haven't noticed any unusual/abnormal tingling or burning or pain sensations. the photos are a bit difficult to focus on them but do these seem like the start of cold sores? note: I will be visiting the drs for an std checkup in the coming week. https://imgur.com/gallery/YLVA5us
