it's been almost 3 months since I am scared of a possible exposure. I have seen NO blisters or no severe pain with redness. The doc said I had a yeast infection and the redness has cleared up for the most part. my concern now is that I have noticed slits on my scrotum that are hardly visible but you can make them out. There is some mild burning pain there but no redness, bumps or anything. I have felt them for about 2 months but couldn't see anything where the tingling, MILD buring pain was untill last week. I also have some leg/hip pains but I did get that hip injury right at the time of concern with that girl and I don't think it has totally gone away. is this all in my head, am i making it my skin worse but strecthing it and rubbing it all day. could the yeast cream that I have been using dry out by skin and cause some minor cracking. let me know PLEASE!! I AM STILL FREAKING OUT!

the cuts

actually I have noticed that one of the slits as some kind of skin inflamaniation around it. a mild red color w/ a different skin texture around the slit, also it is a little darker area. the slit is actually pretty long in size. I actually noticed it like that yesterday after I tried to heal the slit with some neosporian for a day or so. before it was just a slit on the skin but now the redness and minor inflaminiation around it has got me freaked out, plus I do feel some mild burning... kinda like when you irratate a paper cut on your finger. does this sound like the onset of an outbreak (the litterature about slits, cuts, and redness)? my lymph node isn't swollen that I can tell. the lyphm node is the little sac that you can feel (if you are skinny) at about a 45 degree angle from your hip bone right, just a couple inches.... correct? no noticeable bumps when I spread out the skin in the area, it just looks darker and red.. but no bumps.

also another question, can you have an outbreak in more than one spot at the same time? like the slit I can see on one side PLUS the few slits on the other side that also have some mild burning. and I do have that small pain in my hip, butt, thigh area.

damn this whole thing is freaking me out. I can't even concentrate at work.

thanks for the advice Pilot on my last post and sorrry if I am being stupid about all my symptoms.... it's just really scary.

Not usually... But I suppose its possible...

You are correct with you assesment of where the lymph glands are...

They would probably be swollen if you were having an oubreak...

I don't think you have HSV...

still worried about slit

if anyone could help me with their thoughts. the slit with the redness and inflammination that I described has now turned to a really dry, scaley, still red area about the size of a penny. I can still see the slitv kinda but the area doesn't hurt. It just feels REALLY dry and is actually kind of flaking but just a little bit (like dry skin). I have seen no noticable blisters in that area of the scrotum. I put the anti-fungal cream on the area with talc powder as the DR has told me to do because the area seemed to resemble the "yeasties", as the DR called them, that I have had. I suppose I could have made any yeast down their about 10 times worse by putting the neosporain on the area and covering it up (thus making it very moist for a a few days) because I wanted to try to heal the slit (which I hope was just dry skin to begin with).

I may sound stupid by being worried about this but I have read a few posts saying that the area of outbreak was kinda dry/red after or before... i don't know which. I haven't seen much about the area being "scaley" though but it's still freaking me out. People (such as the wonderfully helpful Pilot guy) have said that it doesn't sound like an outbreak or that I have herpes and that I SHOULD have had an outbreak by now (especially with the large amount of stress that I have been under since the start of this scare). No swollen glands, no flu like symptoms (although) i have been getting a small sore throat from the winter, no noticable blisters, no intense pain in an area OR that area of concern other than the mild burning around the slits which I have felt on and off again for at least 6 weeks and that freaking small aching hip pain that extends down from my back, front hip, side hip, and down through my leg on and off (it's on the same side which is what worries me). I just pray that this is all a case of yeast and dry skin.

Any one with thoughts about this? women, any comments about yeast (like how hard it is to get rid of even with medication)? I saw pictures online about male yeast infections and it looked pretty nasty and my area doesn't look too great. I'm thinking about going to the planned parent hood clinic in the area (I just moved to a new state) but I'm still 1 and ? weeks shy of the 12 week mark so I don't know if it's worth the trip. even then I don't know if I want to get a test as i kinda would still want to have that hope and those prays that i'm fine and that this is all in my head and that I am making it worse on myself.

once again, sorry this is so long. the world is a pretty lonley place when you are scared about these things.

Try soaking your tukie in some epsom salts.

Towel off with a nice clean towel, put on some light cotton boxers, have a good night sleep.

If I were you I'd just stop messing with it for a while and stop putting stuff on it, see if that helps. Could be dry skin, and it's such a sensitive area that the stuff you're using is just irritating it. If it is herpes all that junk's not helping and if it isn't, it'll probably heal itself regardless.

At the core of all of this anxiety is the absolute gripping fear that it might be HSV...maybe just accept that maybe it is. I don't think it is, Pilot doesn't think it is, but if it helps you to begin accepting the "worst" case scenario you're so dreading, pretend you have it and you're ok with it just for kicks. I know you're afraid, but try some perspective.

UPDATE

I went to the planned parenthood today.............. and....... they said it looks like a fungal infection and skin irritation. they did do a blood test so that I may know for sure. they wanted to do it cause they saw how stressed out about it I am and they wanted to "give me that piece of mind" although they are pretty sure that I'm in the clear. the warts thing too that I mentioned in my very first post turned out to be not true according the Nurse or DR that examined me. she told me that she deals with herpes and warts all day and that I looked clean and my symptoms where caused by the fungus and skin irriation and also in my head, i just pray that they are 100% right but i guess i will know for sure at the beginning of next week with the blood test.

I will post an update when I get the call next week. for all those that are going through mental hell like i have for the last 3 months, hang in there, keep talking out your feelings on this board and just get to the DR and find out the truth, and i wish you the best of luck as I wait nervously for next week to come cause i'm still pretty nervous but I do feel better.

I’m going to force him to get tested ! Thanks for your help !

@EssenceL25 there really isn't a question mark around the source, it's your latest partner. The median time from infection to an outbreak of lesions upon initial infection is 4 days.  The only thing that isn't certain is the type I suggest.

I asked if it was hsv 1 or 2 and the doctor said it was Hsv2. I’m not sure i just asked him when he was tested last he said this year I said I think we should go test together and he agreed . I’m going to bring it up again cause I really need to know if he gave this to me I wasn’t sure since it was so close to my previous relationship.

@EssenceL25 then it is all beyond reasonable doubt that the current partner is the source. A 'perfect' fit in terms of timing, symptoms and swab. It may be though that the type is not technically known. Culture swabs are very often not typed and just assumed to be HSV-2 if taken from a genital location. If you received oral sex in the days leading into 7 March then it is 50/50 as to whether this is HSV-1 or HSV-2. You could contact your doctor and confirm if the swab was actually typed (which is a second test where fluorescent antibodies for HSV-1 and HSV-2 are added and see which one 'glows').  If that test wasn't done then you do not know type. If you have oral HSV-1 yourself (cold sores) then this will be HSV-2. Does your partner have oral HSV-1? It is somewhat strange for him not to rush and test - many people have a 'reaction' if they truly do not know their status and have concerns that you infected them etc. (not initially rational of course). This indicates he may know his status - or maybe he just isn't simply the sharpest tool in the shed!?

I had flu like symptoms and ulcers on my vagina . They did a culture and I tested positive for hsv2. I asked my partner to get tested he agreed but I’m not sure if he will cause he hasn’t said anything else about it.
