I cannot sleep becuase of this. Just 3 days ago I was with a girl and had a cold sore, I was not aware that it's the same virus as the genital herpes. I am 18 and I had about 3 cold sores in my life. We went at it, I know I am a total moron for it and I liked her clit maybe like twice in about 5 mins I fucked her for like 2 mins...didn't even cum she said she was tired. What are her chances of getting my virus and what are the chances of my own virus spreading to my genetalias, I been really qworried abotu her and myself. My penis area started to itch and tingle, i am guessing i am just making myself it is.... :( i am so upset please help me....

mmmm hard to say... Yes, if you had a coldsore, she might have been exposed...

But if that was 3 days ago, and she hasn't yet developed any symptoms... you might have gotten lucky....

If your cold sore as not open, and didn't open while you were going down on her... you might not have gotten any virus in contact with her...

We really can't say...

But I'd call her, and ask her how she is feeling/if she's had any problem/bumps... If she did get it, it typically works FAST and she would already probably have symptoms... But within a few more days, if she doesn't have any symptoms, I would chalk it up to luck for you...

I HIGHLY doubt that you would have given it to yourself...

According to the UK herpes virus association website, you CANNOT get the same 'type' of herpes in another part of your body.. So once you have hsv1 on your mouth... the rest of your body is immune to the virus.

(this is according to the UK site)

According to many other sources, you can still infect other areas of your body if you touch the sore and then touch your genitals.

Is this really true?

http://www.calgaryhealthregion.ca/hlthconn/items/safer.htm

"People who have cold sores can spread the Herpes Simplex Type 1 virus from a cold sore around their mouth or nose to their genital area by touching the sore and then the genital area without washing their hands."

What you guys think?

Am I really safe?

I don't know... I always thought you COULD spread it around your own body, but then a few days ago I read that info on the UK site, and it said you couldn't... I honestly do not know which is 'true'.

BUT if you read that article (the one you posted) close it DOES say that it is rare (and hints that it might NEVER be possible) to transfer HSV2 around your body after your first outbreak because your body builds up the antibodies to it...

The quote is below... Now the quote does specify that HSV2 you might not be able to spread around, and doesn't say the same about HSV1... BUT... WHY would HSV2 not be able to be transferred around your own body, and hsv1 could?

That doesn't make any sense? I would think they would both behave similarly?

I agree that a 'first outbreak' you could spread around, because your body has no antibodies built up... but anyway...

self stimulation (masturbation) - While masturbation would normally be considered a 'safe' sexual activity, there is some risk involved for some people:

People who have cold sores can spread the Herpes Simplex Type 1 virus from a cold sore around their mouth or nose to their genital area by touching the sore and then the genital area without washing their hands.

People who are having their first outbreak of genital herpes (Herpes Simplex Type 2) can spread the virus from their genital area to other parts of their body (e.g. the eye or the fingers) if they touch their genitals and then other parts of the body without washing their hands. It's important to realize, however, that the spread of genital herpes to other parts of the body very rarely (if ever) happens after the first outbreak of genital herpes because the body has had a chance to make enough antibodies (proteins that fight infection) to prevent the infection of new sites.

Hey @Lcj987 and welcome to the website. You can be sure that isn't HSV-2, looks nothing like it. It is much more likely to be folliculitis or inflamed fordyce spots.

Hey @JackThrowAway herpes causes an outbreak where it enters the body first and maybe a progressive spread. If it doesn't cause an outbreak at the entry site then it won't cause one elsewhere, it also won't 'jump' upon infection - it would be more likely that the lesions are continuous from the penis to the anus. Nevertheless, testing trumps symptoms or any interpretation of symptoms. The correct conclusive result arises when: you have a positive swab; or An IgG HSV-2 level over 3.5 (Herpeselect test).

Slept with someone unprotected, roughly 2 weeks ago now. I felt generally unwell the couple of days after but I’d been drinking the whole weekend and didn’t have much sleep either of the days of that weekend so put it down to that. 6 days after I noticed these spots appear on the shaft of my penis. Along with symptoms of discomfort in my shaft in the couple of days prior to them appearing. No pain when urinating at all that I have noticed. They don’t hurt, itch or tingle and they don’t have fluid in from what I can see or feel if I squeeze them and have never burst? I went to a sexual health clinic to get checked up, they took bloods to do a full test and looked at the spots but said they saw nothing that concerned them but I’m not sure about that, any advice? The smaller spots under the shaft are just follicles I had diagnosed years ago and non-sti related.

She tested positive for HSV2. No, there was nothing of that sort in that area.   However I also have ulcerative colitis so I’m on medication that makes me immunosuppressed. I have been bleeding a bit when I pass stools during the time of redness, so I’m unsure if I’m getting a flare from the colitis (from all the stress of everything) or if it’s due to the virus making it’s way to an already inflamed area and popping up as blisters that I can’t see and hence the bleeding.    I had two equivocal results (at 4 weeks and 6 weeks) that then went to a positive result (7 weeks after exposure). Combine that with some flu symptoms, redness, tingling etc. makes me feel it’s conclusive that this points to a hsv2 infection.
