URGENT! herpes or not?

Recommended Posts

my boyfriend and I had unprotected sex and I had a yeast infection, but didn't know I did, I found out I had one the next day, couple days later my boyfriends penis became dry, slight itchy but not really, couple days later he had flakey skin from being dry and a blister right before the head of his penis, it popped the flakey skin fell off, now where the blister was looks like small cuts.. could this be from my yeast infection?? and is it herpes? I do not have herpes, and I am the only person he's been with.

Symptoms of herpes can manifest like a yeast infection. It is not necessary to have classic symptoms to have herpes. Many people have herpes and do not know it.

You can acquire a genital infection from someone simply performing oral sex on you if they carry the virus or have ever suffered from coldsores or fever blisters. You do not need to have sexual intercourse to be infected with genital herpes.

To get a diagnosis you can have a swab of sores if they are present (should be in the first 48 hours) or if you have been infected in the past you can have a blood test done that tests for the presence of antibodies to the virus.

Your boyfriend should see a dr regarding the symptoms he describes and so should you.

You can't get herpes from a yeast infection. You can only get herpes from herpes. But you can be a carrier or he could be and never know. I do think getting tested would be a good thing for both of you. That way you know and there is no more guessing. If you are positive you have never had herpes before (i.e. You have been tested...and recently) it's probably not herpes, but if neither of you have been tested...get tested. And soon.

yea I am on them.  Been taking them for about 8 months now.  I reckon they're good for general well being too, cause I am not as tired as I used to be and I didn't get the flu this year.  My blisters stopped after about the third month, but I really don't know if I am still positive or not, cbf doing a blood test and I am not dating so I don't mind not knowing for now.  But I am happy to stay on them for a while.

"We predict that transmission is unlikely at viral loads less than 104 HSV DNA copies" https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4006256/ The above quote suggests that transmission can take place with 10,000 copies (104).

See this article.  I would say that it is Herpes.   I have burning mouth syndrome and have to take a lot of antivirals.  Was valtrex then famicyclovir, then acyclovir.  https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.livescience.com/50455-burning-mouth-syndrome-herpes.html

Sorry to tell you, but I have the same thing.  Probably HSV 1.  It was not as bad as before, but when I kissed certain people it would get worse.  The last person I dated had HSV 1 and now I have it as burning mouth syndrome.  So here is the article.  I get tingles everywhere if I get saliva on me no matter where you kiss me.  So trigeminal area and my skin.  When the I guess initial outbreak was happening, I was getting fever and skin irritations everywhere.  Now I try to be careful not to kiss my partner  anywhere or touch my eyes etc, I do not need to spread it anywhere. https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.livescience.com/50455-burning-mouth-syndrome-herpes.html
